About the Author

Steven Molin grew up in St. Paul Minnesota, and attended Kellogg High School, where he was a three sport athlete. (Soccer, hockey and baseball.) Molin attended St. Cloud State College in Minnesota and played hockey there. He graduated from Concordia College in St. Paul, MN., where he lettered in baseball. He earned an M.A. degree in youth ministry at Luther Seminary in 1975, and an M.Div. in 1982. He is currently a doctor of ministry candidate at Bethel Seminary in Arden Hills, MN. After serving as Area Director for Young Life from 1975-82, Molin was ordained in the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) in 1982. He has served congregations in Salem, Oregon and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He is currently the pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stillwater, MN. Steve has been married to Marsha, an elementary school teacher, for 28 years. They have two adult children: Kyle and Kindra. Molin still enjoys watching all sports (except professional wrestling!) and also enjoys jogging, playing golf and fishing. However, his passion is in writing and speaking so that people can connect their faith with their daily lives. "Every day is a game day!" according to Molin.

This booklet is a great motivational book for athletes. It both focuses on making you have better Godly character, as well as improving your physical talent. There is a total of 25 daily devotions. Each day contains a opening bible verse, a message, and then a closing question which the author calls the "Extra Point". This booklet is very fun to read and has great messages conveyed throughout that really make you think about important things. I recommend this booklet to any young athlete.

We bought a copy of this book for each boy on my son's 10-11 year old travel baseball team. Since we sometimes play out-of-town tournaments on the weekends, we miss church. In between Sunday games, one of our coaches uses this booklet to teach a devotional for the players and families. It is very kid-friendly, but also very interesting for adults. I love the way it teaches spiritual terms through athletic terminology. In one devotional, a sin is compared to an error. We have to learn from our mistake, but we have to move on or we won't be able to make the next play. Some of the devotionals include stories about famous athletes. It includes topics about many different sports, so it would be great for boys or girls from about age 9 on up. Each lesson is based on a Bible verse. I would highly recommend this book!

I got this book when my boy was seven and the reading level was a little difficult for him. The reading level is aimed at probably fifth grade to middle school. But we went through it together and he enjoyed it. It's good quality faith-based stuff.
