Book Description

Game Day September 1, 2006
The names are oh, so familiar to fans of college football. Peyton Manning. Reggie White. Hank Lauricella. General Robert Neyland. Those names and countless others have given Tennessee football an unmatched tradition and legacy of greatness. In this book, we’ve attempted to distill that tradition into words and pictures. It’s a daunting task. Few programs inspire the loyalty and passion that Tennessee football exacts from its fans, and with good reason

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"As much as anything else, my fondest and most lasting memory of UT was the unbelievable level of devotion its fans express for the program." —Peyton Manning, from the Foreword

"It’s Football time in Tennessee!" —Legendary broadcaster John Ward

From the Inside Flap

The numbers are impressive: two national championships (and counting). Thirteen championships in the greatest conference in football, the SEC. Ten unbeaten seasons. Dozens of All-Americans. Countless statistical milestones. But the numbers alone don’t do justice to the impact that Tennessee football has had and continues to have on its legion of fans. What takes place within the storied confines of Neyland Stadium is more than simply a game; it’s a way of life. Since 1891 the Volunteers of Tennessee have shirked no challenges. The rewards have run the gamut from black eyes and bruises to bronze trophies and gold rings. When the 100,000 orange-clad citizens of Vol Nation gather on football Saturdays, they are partaking in the traditions, the memories and the indelible images that make up the tapestry of Tennessee football. Game Day: Tennessee Football is a celebration of the bond that all Volunteer players and fans share and of the decades of gridiron excellence that have inspired it.

This review is from: Game Day: Tennessee Football: The Greatest Games, Players, Coaches and Teams in the Glorious Tradition of Volunteer Football (Hardcover)
Excellent perspective on Tennessee football. I bought this for my brother-in-law, who is a big UT fan. He was really jacked up when he opened it Christmas morning. It's a quality book.
