4.0 out of 5 stars Setting The Record Straight!!!, February 19, 2006
This review is from: The Game - Documentary: The DVD (DVD)
Okay to start this off right, I AM NOT HATER! That being said, i think the game is a pretty good lyricist, which means that he is superman in the hood and christopher reeves worldwide. The documentary which owes its commercial success to 50 cent and Dr. Dre is a classic album. But the question remains, did the game write the entire album or was it put together by Dr. Dre, The Game, 50 Cent, and a million guest appearences. The first thing i noticed when looking at the documentary in comparison to Get Rich Or Die Tryin' is almost everything except the lyrics of the songs are done by someone else. lETS RECAP, 50(WHO HES BEEFING WITH) CENT, BUSTA RHYMES, DR DRE, EMINEM, FAITH, MARY J. BLIDGE,TONY YAYO(WHO HES BEEFING WITH), FLOETRY, DAMN!,TIMBALAND, HAVOC (WHO HES BEEFING WITH),KANYE WEST,JUST BLAZE, HI-TEK,and NATE DOGG. The Game has almost more guest appearances than actual songs which makes me think this is more of a compilation or soundtrack then anything else. Now after reviewing the album, let's review the crews. G-unit vs. Black Wallstreet! Waiting......Waiting......O wait the game is the only person signed to himself that has any success. I thought that Billboard was a pretty good rapper and it's a shame that he passed away but now that i have recognized this, lets still review crews. Lloyd Bank$(One of the best artists in the game period),Young Buck (Definately One of the kings of the south next to T.I., Ludacris, Scarface and UGK),Tony Yayo(Whos cd "thoughts of a predicate felon" was the most underrated albums of 2005), Dj Whoo Kid (The best mixtape DJ next to DJ KAY SLAY and DJ Clue),and 50 "Interscope" Cent (Who is one of the few artists in history to carry a major label on his back as far as hip hop is concerned. The only artists to do this is Jay-z,Eminem (before passing the torch to 50),and 2pac. The reason why I compare crews is anyone who grew up in the hood knows that when your main artist gets signed, the next big move is to put your friends and family on or at least try (Hood Rule#5). This has been a hip hop tradition with every real artist in the game (Snoop Dogg put on Dogg Pound,Nelly attempting to put on the St. Lunatics, Ludacris attempting to put on DTP,Jay-Z put on Roc-a-fella,Eminem putting on D12,etc). Since The Game has been out, he hasn't even put out a mixtape for Blackwallstreet. Ever since he was dropped from G-unit, he has done more songs mentioning them then when he was actually with them. Finally I want to review the reason for their beef in the first place. The game's disloyalty to the man along with several others that put him on. If he was someone like Kanye West or Common this would be acceptable because they do not claim to men of the streets. However, The Game's whole claim to fame was how hood he was, and his connection with bloods and crips. The Game being a gangmember should know that almost always, you should ride with the team you come in the game with. The game sided with Fat Joe (Who has street cred but never established a rap career) and Jadakiss (Excellent lyricist but comes up short with his inability to make hit records without guest appearances) after being involved with a song with Ja Rule(Enough Said).
