Wheels are weak,

Cart is very solid but the wheels are not able to hold 500lbs on anything but flat ground. Hauled my deer out this year and the second log I had to cross the wheels just folded up on it. They need to put some heavier duty wheels on this thing for it to be nice.

I bought this cart last year after I had to drag my buck 1/2 a mile and thought I was going to die. What a deal for $69.95. I got to use my cart 3 times this year. 1st time I had to go through a harvested corn field just straddle the rows and away you go. The second was my buddies deer and this was on smooth terrain, and the 3rd was through a woods. It walked right over those downed logs! The belt that is located by the handles was the best idea, just strap the belt around your waist and walk. The cart follows right behind you with hands free. It's nice getting to the vehicle and not being tired from dragging your trophy! It is easy to tear down and put together! Unfold it and just 4 nuts and bolts for the side brackets and a pin for each wheel and it is ready to go.

If you are going to leave this assembled all the time or you are on a very strict budget I could recommend this item. But I would recommend that you purchase a better quality cart if you are serious about hauling big game. This cart is not small unless you completely disassemble. It is 70"Lx30"Wx50"H fully assembled. Take 10" off the height if you remove the wheels. It is 50"Lx32"W with the axle on and 50"x23" if you take the axle off but then you have completed disassembled the cart. Bottom line, fully assembled it will go in a trailer or a pickup without a topper.
The wheels are solid but if you look at my photo one was cut off a 1/4" in width difference. After placing the axle and locking in with a cotter key you then have a spacer, wheel, washer, and cotter key to place the wheel on the axle. It would be easy to lose all the small parts. With the spokes, washer, and large cotter key assembled brush easily would get tangled in the wheel. Attempt to buy one with large spokes. Please observe to see the small hardware items you need to carry.

I bought this after I had to drag my buck about half a mile and discovered that subjectively it was a mere 100 miles-GASP-and I'm getting to old for that kind of exercise! The wheels do stink but that is not a problem for me since it stays in the truck until I need it. The belt attached to the handles is nice, just buckle the belt around your waist and walk. The cart is easy to tear down and put together! Unfold it, use 4 nuts and bolts for the side brackets and a cotter pin for each wheel. As delivered, the axle is held in the frame with a cotter pin, but I changed that to a bent wire since the axle does not have to be removed for folding the cart up for transport or storage. Most of the weight seems to be in the wheels since they are solid core rubber/plastic. I may decide to try and find some pneumatic BMX 20 inch wheels that will fit the axle and provide similar durability with less weight.

works nice, heavy duty, plastic finger muts were very tight so make sure you pre assemble this thing before going into the field. worked well for a nearly 600 pound cow elk.

For the most part this works well. However the straps are weak and tore apart during its first use. Also the wheel fell off just as we got the elk back to my truck. Overall pretty sturdy. Took it from 11,000 feet and brought an elk about 11 miles with it.

It took about 15 minutes to assemble, mainly because I thought I could do it without referring to the pictures. Wrong. Having the pictures in front of me, assembly time should have been about 10 minutes.

We bought two of these Big Game carts to haul camp gear with. They are very well built, sturdy carts. Love the no puncture tires, and the strap/harness that you can pull with. These glide easily and are going to last a long time.
We are considering making a bicycle hitch to go with these carts so that they can be used as a bike trailer as well. Reds Gear is a wonderful seller, and they answered our emails promptly.

I recently purchased this for a New Mexico Oryx hunt. the cart was a definite must have for the hunt because of the fact that we were not permited to use any motorized vehicle to retrieve the game. The cart went together quite easily within minutes, which was a good thing because i transported it disassembled to save space in the cargo area of the truck. The solid rubber tires were good because there was no concern with flats, but had a bit of drawback because of them being narrow. They tend to sink in loose, sandy soil increasing the feel of drag. Im sure if the terrain was solid or more firm than the terrain i hunted on, it would have been much better. I did see a few other hunters that had similar carts but had modified them with what seemed to be a home-made extended axle enabling them to add an extra tire to each side of the cart. BRILLIANT!!! (wish i had thought of it!) The straps privided with the cart for securing the game to the cart were a bit of a chore to get to work. im sure if i would have learned to used these before the hunt, it would have been helpful. my bad. The cart was entirely capable of the 300 pound animal. no bending or visible stress was seen. it took two grown men in pretty decent shape, about an hour to move the Oryx about 1/2 a mile over brush, cactus, and sand. We reached the truck with the Oryx in tact and undamadged. Overall, not too bad. i couldnt see one person performing the same task alone. just too heavy. Since it took two of us, i think it would have been nice to have a bar about 3-1/2 to 4 feet long that could be clamped on, even by using something as simple as U-bolts to secure it, would have made it even better. the two of us seemed to step on each other and a bar/extended handle, would have added to usefullness when you have the option of having a helper. Overall, i think it was a great tool to have and saved us from quartering the animal or dragging it over the terrain and causing damadge to the hide.

At 52 years old, and having had back surgery, anything I can do that makes it easier on my body is a plus. I have not used my cart yet-because I just recieved it, but my hunting partner has the same model and I have used it twice, which prompted me to get my own. It's built well, lightweight yet durable, highly recommended.
