The Game of God,
By
This review is from: The Game of God: Recovering Your True Identity (Paperback)
In a nutshell- the Game of God is the description of the entire creation of our universe in a brilliant, simple and hilarious nutshell. Nobody has been able to do it better than the authors of this book. I have hundreds of self-mastery and higher-consciousness books in my library and this one is on the top of my reading list. As a teacher and counselor I require everyone I work with to read this book, and read it well. It is the official book of my healing practice. There is no reason to complicate the truth behind our reality, as complex as it already seems. The Game of God has managed to hit the nail on the head and will keep you laughing all the way. Every other page of the book is a corresponding cartoon animating the well written script that has been arranged into word sculptures. This is by far my favorite book ever and 5 stars doesn't compare to the infinite stars I would give it if I could.

Why We're Here,
By
This review is from: The Game of God: Recovering Your True Identity (Paperback)
I'm a recovering Alcoholic, and also a recovering Mormon. This book is the absolutely best book ever written explaining why we are here in the first place. I've given this book to many people in "AA", to help them grasp a concept of God that actually makes sence. Thanks Arthur and Kathleen. I've met you both and your great people. I'm looking forward to your next book.

This world IS god, purposely self-immersed in life & death.,

"The Game of God" makes a radical postulation that the world, or the universe, is a direct and singular manifestation of a perfect, eternal spirit which has consciously decided to forget its own transcendent nature and immerse itself in duality and limitation. THIS is what all the dramas and joys of life are all about.

Just like the title says. I know a couple of Catholics that I'd asked to read this, and they wondered if it were to be taken 'tongue-in-cheek'. No, it's a serious, enlightening book that is easy to comprehend. If you don't believe in God, no worries, it's a way to understand, a different view, and a life-altering tome ( for myself, anyway). Learn to Love.

One Of The Best Books Ever,
By
This review is from: The Game of God: Recovering Your True Identity (Paperback)
The Game Of God is one of the best books I've ever read. It tells you why the universe was created and why all the "good" and "bad" things happen in the world. It's written very simply with cartoons on every other page describing the concepts you read about. By the time you've finished the book, you've become concious of some heavy duty concepts. I cannot disagree with any sentence in the book and it's so logically written, each idea just flows into the next one. I've read many, many books, but The Game Of God really explains almost every question I've ever asked.

I expected more.,

With all the glowing reviews, I was expecting something more in depth. In a nutshell: A) Every one on Earth is an ego-maniac unless/until they transcend their "survival as form" (ego) to God/a higher power. Basically the same principal as AA, which the book credits for it's use of the 12 steps to transcendence. B) God created the universe to understand limitation. Really? God needed, in essence, a petri dish 78 billion light-years wide to understand limitation? He/She/It could have saved a few billion years of evolution and just created a Mother-in-law.:-) (sorry...) I liked the format of the book, it was humorous in parts and well written, I just feel the concept wasn't as "Earth shattering" as it was made out to be.

The Game of God came into my life just at a perfect moment where I was able to emotionally and intellectually experience how attached to my prevailaing beliefs I had become. This book is stimulating on an intellectual level but presents the understanding of Who We Are and What We Are Doing Here in such wonderfully elementary and plaintive ways. I highly recommend putting this book on your coffee table and picking it up whenever you might be experiencing any challenge. Funny to the core I hope you will enjoy it as I have.

This book will rock you to your core. If you possess deeply held beliefs of any kind, the "Game of God" exposes the game we play in our minds and with others, using belief systems to assuage our deep personal fears and insecurities. On it's broadest level, this book is one of recovery of the human spirit and the reunification with Source. Fun, provocative and profound. This is a book that you read and re-read.

Great Guidebook to the God Game,
By JDF (Pennsylvania, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Game of God: Recovering Your True Identity (Paperback)
I read this book in a bookstore, put it back on the shelf and returned to the bookstore the next day and purchased it. (Sorry Amazon.com. I had to have it immediately although I will be buying copies through you to give as gifts.) While not agreeing with everything in this book, I did find enough gems to continue to hold up to the light day after day. This book is not the first to hypothesize that God has self-imposed amnesia. Nor is it the first to suggest that God has a great sense of humor and is very playful. However, it is the first to put these together with some other ideas which I found to be extremely thought provoking. Read it several times. It's short. It's not too sweet. But it may be just what your soul has been looking for.

This book should be mandatory reading for hard core atheists,

I know that most of the ideas were not mentioned first time in this book, but I fell in love with it from the page one, anyway.I had some difficulties to agree with it's ending, the after death experience as a proof of ego surviving death, jumping on incarnation as an easily acceptable concept. Being pumped up with the ideas from the beginning of the book, I was more inclined to think that we are eons away from getting that Humpty-Dumpty back into one piece again. But my hopes are greater than my worries... |
