4.0 out of 5 stars Another Chained Melody
For Santana, trying to capatalize among the success of his 1999 album, Supernatural was a very difficult thing to really do. Nevertheless, he did score a hit out of it with Michelle Branch. The Game Of Love is one of the most enjoyable songs ever to have been released recently. The blend of Rock and Pop feel is truly a masterpiece to be held. The song also hit it big,...

2.0 out of 5 stars average at best
I dig Older Santana stuff overall&this song along with the Bulk of His Last Two Albums in His Cross-Over Make-Over just is a dime a dozen.the only thing that saves this Song is Carlos's Guitar Wails.Michelle Branch is pretty weak overall. She is trying to hard to seem legit at working with Carlos.Collabs have done got way out of hand.bad enough Carlos with Rob Thomas but...

The Game Of Love is one of the most enjoyable songs ever to have been released recently. The blend of Rock and Pop feel is truly a masterpiece to be held. The song also hit it big, with the Grammy award for Best Pop Collaboration in 2003. Although I wish I could've said the exact same thing for Shaman, but this one song definitely holds up that feel. It is truly a wonderful song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slammin', December 8, 2002
By A Customer

Buy this for the two tracks you can't get on Shaman. "Come To My World" is a smoking pop/rock/latin track with great guitars and excellent vocals by Andy Vargas. The sonic quality is huge and sparkling compared to some of the tracks on Shaman. "Curacion" is a melodic treat with lush synthesizers and some of Santana's best playing ever. How these two didn't get on the album itself I'll never know....

4.0 out of 5 stars Not too shabby, November 25, 2002
This review is from: Game of Love (Audio CD)
As a big fan of Michelle Branch, I was very excited when this song came out. She is an outstanding singer, songwriter, and guitar player. Although I do not like this song as much as others on her CD, it was okay. My main problem with it was that I could not hear much of Santana's guitar playing behind her lyrics and the rest of the music, and that was disappointing. After all, it is his CD. If you are a really big fan of Santana, I wouldn't suggest this CD. This is definetly not his best song. His older CD, Supernatural, had more impressive guitar playing then this track. I felt that this song was more about Branch and her singing. Otherwise, I loved this song and enjoyed listening to it. I do recommend this CD, despite the fact the guitar isn't as audible as it should be. I would buy this single more for Branch's singing then Santana and his guitar, even if I wasn't a Branch fan. This was the only main flaw I could find in this song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soulful Santana lends a String, June 29, 2006

You can't help but admire where Santana has been, where he is, where he's going. In keeping his faith to his style and meshing it with other artists' perspectives he hit one here with Michelle. I had never heard of her before but the easy groove these two hit struck me on the radio on a sunny day in the car (I knew it was Santana and I *had* to look her up as a result). He grinds out his patented chords, providing a solid foundation from which Michelle can dance her vocal scales and weave in her own guitar. Very few songs really grab one's attention, and this definitely got mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Low Key Songbird makes it Big Time!, January 18, 2003
By
shoutgrace "savedbyhisgrace" (Charleston, WV United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Game of Love (Audio CD)
Game of Love sung by Arizona native Michelle Branch with a legendary CarlosSantana accompanying instumental. This has brought this songbird to instant stardom. I'm not a Santana fan, but this one really kicks it. Branch has caught the attention of many famous folks like Liza Minnelli. But Branch claims she's too shy to sing with her established peers. This low key phenom loves playing for the little crowds.

Her unspoiled nature and dynamite vocals is a welcomed sight to those looking for something different and inspirational. Her persona is a mixture of Natalie Merchant and Christian artist Jennifer Knapp in a little higher key. From her debut album "You Get Me," despite what her lyrics say 'I'm a little out of tune.' On the contrary, this one's definitely in tune! Other ones to listen to is 'Everywhere' and 'All You Wanted.'

If you want something different from the old fad stuff and not all the hype but good lyrics and beautiful vocals give this a try. It's a mix of a little hip-hop & pop, great acoustics, catchy tunes. Branch shines in her own little quite garden in this crazy world and can still dazzle mainstream listeners. She got my vote to add to my good music collection.

anybody remember New Radicals? they had that hit several years back 'You Get What You Give' and then promptly dissappeared. Well, 'Game of Love' was written in part by Alex Ander, an alias of sorts for Gregg Alexander, the main performer behind New Radicals. it makes sense when you listen to the song, it screams of his style.
