About the Author

A lifelong resident of Alabama, Tommy Hicks is in his 30th year as a newspaper reporter. He is a sports reporter and columnist for the Mobile Press-Register, a position he has held for the past 14 years. He began his career as sports editor of the Phenix Citizen, a weekly newspaper in his hometown of Phenix City. He has also served as sports editor of the Selma Times-Journal; as a sportswriter, entertainment writer, entertainment editor, and features editor for the Montgomery Advertiser; and as a sportswriter for the Anniston Star.

A past president of the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA), Hicks also serves on its executive committee. He has twice won ASWAÂ’s Herby Kirby Award, awarded to the writer of AlabamaÂ’s top sports story of the year. In 2005, the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association named him the winner of the Alabama Sportswriter of the Year award. Hicks has won several other national, regional, and state sportswriting awards, including twice earning first-place honors for Best Sports Reporting in Sigma Delta ChiÂ’s Green Eyeshade Awards, as well as first-place awards for best event story from the Football Writers Association of America and the Associated Press Sports Editors, and first-place sports feature honors from the Alabama Press Association and Alabama Associated Press. A 1976 graduate of Troy State University with a double major in art and journalism, Hicks was named the 2005 Hall School of JournalismÂ’s outstanding alumnus in print journalism.

It's an OK book only for Crimson Tide fans... All 'Bama great games in history are reviewed by the own protagonist and the writer... The bad thing is that chapters are short and a few detailed, in my opinion...
