Book Description

March 16, 2004
Cas Perry wants nothing to do with love -- her dad walking out on her mother was quite enough romantic drama, thank you very much. And why should she bother with relationships when she can manipulate just about any man for sex? The steely-hearted TV producer plays with other people's love lives and orchestrates unscripted fireworks on the edgy reality show Sex with an Ex -- a ratings blockbuster that is sending her already-hot career skyrocketing.

Now, the woman who has all the answers meets the man who, for the first time, poses questions other than "buy you a drink?". Stunningly handsome Darren would be a sensation on Sex with an Ex -- and Cas needs him to ensure the show's success. So why is she wining and dining the sexiest man she's ever met -- and talking about family values, marriage, and fidelity? Darren's principles are changing the rules of attraction. And this may be one game Cas won't mind losing....

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Jocasta "Cas" Perry is a television producer who has just come up with a brilliant idea for a reality show. Sex with an Ex will tempt men and women on the verge of getting married with a visit from an ex-lover intent on seducing them. Cas gets the green light, and the show debuts to strong numbers. A woman who thinks commitment is absurd and casual sex is the way to go, Cas couldn't be more thrilled, even if the show's success results in quite a few broken hearts. But Cas hits a bump in the road when she meets sexy Darren, a man who refuses to test his ex-girlfriend's fidelity to her fiance. Under the guise of trying to erode Darren's strong sense of morality, Cas takes him out to dinner and follows him to his hometown. But to her surprise (and horror) she finds she's developing real feelings for Darren. Fun characters and a hilarious (and not unbelievable) premise make this a delightful romp. Kristine Huntley

4.0 out of 5 stars Can an "ice queen" ever commit to love?, July 14, 2005

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Game Over (Paperback)
Jocasta "Cas" Perry, a producer for an up and coming London network, she's been given the task of coming up with a program to boost ratings. Cocktails with friends results in a brilliant idea for a show - "Sex With an Ex," whereby about to be married couples have their relationship tested by temptation with a former lover. Her concept works a little too good, as ratings go through the roof. She meets a possible "ex" named Darren. He's intelligent, sexy, and very engaging, and she is very attracted, knowing that the entire English population will fall for him (thus a ratings bonanza). He declines the show citing that it's a blight on relationships and wants no part of it. To change his mind and chip away at his strong morals, she hangs out with him and his family for a few days, fighting her attraction to him. She'll leave no stone unturned in order to change his mind, and tells him so, but he stands his ground. No doubt about it - Darren is a dream come true; he's not afraid to show his feelings or stand up for what he believes in, including the happily ever after that Cas is so strongly opposed to. Suddenly, ice-hearted Cas is finding herself in unchartered territory - she's falling in love with Darren. Her reaction to their mutual feelings is what takes the rest of the story on a roller coaster ride, as she immediately reverts to her old, selfish ways, and is confronted with her past misdeeds in the most publically humiliating way.

"Game Over" is a interesting romantic comedy that also speaks volumes about back stabbers in the workplace and faith in the one you love. Although it's hard to find any redeeming qualities in Cas ("bag em; shag em; and send em packing"), if you stick with it, you'll be rewarded with a very fascinating story, as like the "Grinch," Cas' heart grows two sizes by the end. It's amazing that someone like him would even bother with a gal like her. She's constantly nasty to him - any other guy would just leave, not wanting to be just another notch on her bedpost. Be sure to also check out the author's notes in the back.

1.0 out of 5 stars As Bad as the Real Reality Shows!, May 17, 2010
This review is from: Game Over (Paperback)
Jocasta Perry is a female playboy. She adopts the "love 'em and leave 'em" attitude towards men, which seems to fit into her hectic and hip life as a TV producer in London. She comes up with a new reality show called "Sex with an Ex" and things take off. Then, she meets Darren Smith, who refuses to be a contestant on the show and her world is turned upside down. The girl who never gets attached finds herself in love, in denial, in pain, and finally, stabbed in the back by her production assistant in a plot involving Darren.

Cheesy - with a side of Velveeta to boot. Issie is predictable, Fiona is horrible, Bales is a stereotype, Darren is unrealistic and basically retarded to keep coming back. Josh is a puzzle turned pathetic with the whole marriage proposal and Cas is a true moron. 33 year olds have NO excuse to act the way she does. Not to mention the boring, descriptive pages on Whitby and the Museum. Garbage!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars PURE CRAP, September 3, 2005
This review is from: Game Over (Paperback)
I thought that this would be a good book. I WAS WRONG!! It is so horrible and boring that I couldnt get past the first 50 pages. The characters are dull and over done. The writer I THINK is trying too hard to make them cool. They just remind me of rip offs of other characters i have read about a thousand times before. I suggest that NO ONE waste their money on this book. And if this author has anymore books out then I dont think I would suggest buying them either. If they are anything like this piece of crap.
