Harlem's Mochabreez,

This review is from: Game Over: The Rise and Transformation of a Harlem Hustler (Paperback)
I thought this book was absolubtly "wonderfull"!
As a former resident of Harlem during AZ's reign, I can assure you of the accuracy of this well written, informative book. I laughed, I cried, I felt fear, and I celebrated, as I was entertained. I believe this book should be a required text of all schools; for it is a lesson that both teachers, and students can benefit from. I applaued AZ for his candid accounts, and his chosen co/author (Agyei Tyehimba). This Authors abilities breathed litterary life into a story now not soon to be forgotten. I look forward to Mr. Tyehimba's next projects, and Az's future accomplishments. Wishing you both continued success... Mochabreez

A Book Every Hustler Should Read,
By
This review is from: Game Over: The Rise and Transformation of a Harlem Hustler (Paperback)
This is a book that ever person who's thinking of getting involved in the game should read before doing so. It's a very easy read like Azie was sitting on your building stoop kickin' it with you. Many kids these days look up to the so-called ghetto stars and they fail to realize the consequences of their actions, Azie relates his story in a way that is both tragic and inspiring, if he could turn his life around anyone can. I thank you Brother Azie for exposing your former life without glamorizing it.

I heard rumors about young 1980's Harlem Hustlers (Rich Porter, Azie Faison, an Alberto Martinez) who were the inspiration for "New Jack City", an I had to see the movie "Paid in Full". I heard that "Paid in Full" wasn't accurate so I had to see the DVD documentary, "Game Over". From there, I bought the DVD "Game Over Part II" Alpo's Story. Then I lucked up and found Alpo's Don Diva/F.E.D.S. magazine jailhouse interview online. I STILL wanted more, as much as I could get without sitting down with the remaining hustlers, Alpo and Azie myself. Then I found the book, "Game Over" by Azie Faison. Now I am finally satisfied.
I am not interested in illegal activity, murder, or contributing to the destruction of gullible and economically disenfranchised people of America's ghettos. I really believe that MOST of these Harlem Hustlers and hustlers in ghettos across America feel the same. The negative parts of the drug hustle were considered more like "collateral damage". Collateral Damage is intellectually understood when talking about American/European military exploits. Collateral Damage is often intolerable in the discussion of ghetto hustlers trying to go from America's poverty level to a monthly six figure income within the confines of the ghetto. I was interested in knowing more details about how Azie Faison (the last of the 3 man crew) organized a crew to make that money in the hood. Also who was L.A.? What hip-hop celebs were they associated with. I wanted to know more about the cars, clothes, and hoes (smile) It's all there. I rarely read novels. I knocked this book out in 2 days. Peace. Thank GOD, the game(as far as the epidemic scale of the 80's and 90's)is over.

Good read especially for black men....A+++ AZ I commend you for telling your story/struggle. I am a female from D.C. who has followed the AZ, Alpo and Rich Porter story. Ive lost many loved ones to the streets and is now raising sons. This really helped.

This is an excellent must read! It should be required reading for all young people. I plan to purchase more copies for the youngsters in my family. This book will definitely help to keep them on the straight and narrow.

I spent most of my teen-young adulthood hanging in Harlem (Rooftop, Rutgers, S&S Club) during the mid 80's and early 90's. The legend of Alpo, Azie and Rich Porter was larger than life. I remember Alpo and company showing out doing donuts on their motorcycles in the middle of 125th on hot summer nights. I had a boyfriend at the time who's biggest dream was to get "put on" by one of them. I remember being a young, ghetto girl and thinking that having a big time drug dealer for a man was something to aspire to. I remember when Azie was shot up on the Concourse, and Rich Porter's little brother was kidnapped. I remember how once they were gone, the cycle of destruction in the hood continued like they never existed. To see Azie come full circle from all that is so inspirational. This book is raw. All the glitz, glamour, high living, sex, money and drug parts of the story were entertaining, but I was touched most by the lessons he learned. I'm moved by this brother's spirituality and his commitment to uplift the youth, denounce the game and its destructive influences in Hip-Hop. I saw Paid In Full, but enjoyed Game Over (the documentary) and this book much more. This book is well written and a definite page turner. I finished it in one day. GREAT GREAT read!

Man when I say this guy is one blessed soul he is truly blessed and is working for the Lord now. See,though the game is dirty some of our people make it out and its only by the grace of God and I truly believe it was because of the heart that he had and he was placed on earth for a purpose...I wish it could get 10 stars!!!!!!

This book is a very real documentary on the life of an Urban street kingpin in 80's Crack overridden New York where poverty was the main theme. He highlights the hypocrisy that existed on all levels of the game from street dealers all the way up to government officials and police. A whole generation of primarily African-American and Hispanic kids wiped out by this devilish economy that anyone who had the get up and go could be a part of. It also paints the redemption of one of the biggest dealers of them all. A young kid name Azie Faison.........DEEP READING. I loved it.
