Great book as usual from Wilson,
By A Customer
This review is from: Game Plan (Hardcover)
Very, very good book. But what is most amazing is how a so-called ficticious military research subplot in "Game Plan" concerning ? something? (Don't want to give away the storyline), just this last week was shown on CNN, with a scientist now claiming a break-through in just the field Wilson's book has to do with. I don't know how Wilson does it. The reason I first started reading him two years ago was I saw an article talking about him moving up the best-seller lists. What caught my eye in particular was the article calling Wilson a modern day visionary, talking about how for three books is a row he had hit on a so-called far-out scientific plotline that had become true-life fact within months of his writing his novel. And now he does it again. Keep it up--even though it is a little frightening that an author is able to do this time and again. If he ever writes a book about the world ending, and makes it sound as plausible as everything else he writes, I don't want to know about it.

The best just keeps getting better!,
This review is from: Game Plan (Hardcover)
Charles Wilson is the man to beat in the techno-thriller category. As good as his work is, he actually grows stronger with each new book. GAME PLAN is his best to date.Chilling, terrifying, and fast-moving, GAME PLAN is a study in tension from the first page. If you've read all of his books, you will be delighted. If you haven't, this will make you hunger to read every one of his novels. Do it! You will be hooked for life.

Fast paced scientific thriller, better than the X-files!,

If you have ever read any of Charles Wilson's books you know that he is a master storyteller, and a plotter of extreme talent. And when "DONOR" was released a few months ago, I thought it would be hard to beat. But Charles Wilson has done it once again in creating the page turning suspense thriller "GAME PLAN."The characters are wonderfully drawn, the storyline has you guessing until the last pages, and there are no loose ends to frustrate even the most critical reader (Me!). This is probably the finest fiction book I have read in a very, very long time. Highly recommended.

A n excellent thriller,
This review is from: Game Plan (Hardcover)
Ten years ago, a secret government agency recruited five individuals incarcerated at Fort Leavenworth to participate in a top-secret medical experiment. The prisoners received brain implants that gave them encyclopedic knowledge, enhanced reflexes, and the ability to grasp new data as fast as a computer. The experiment succeeded, but the group sponsoring the tests failed to consider the new abilities of the prisoners would enable them to escape. For the next decade, nothing is heard from the three men and one woman who vanished into society. However, one of the escapees has recently died in a freak car accident. His body was brought to University Medical Center where pathologist Dr. Lambert does an autopsy and removes the implant. Lambert is killed and his associate Spence Stevens believes the implant led to the doctor's murder. He vows to see that justice is done, but is unaware that he has stepped into a global plot of world domination by super beings. Think of a perefectly running jet engine and one will understand the pacing of GAME PLAN. The story line is tautly interwoven with the subplots returning to move the main story line forward to its climatic touchdown. Charles Wilson crafts a non-stop thriller that seems to go at a SST pace, but works because Spence is an endearing character that humanizes the tale. GAME PLAN turns into a game winner. Wonderful book! We usually like the serial killer genre, but this one kept us on the edge of our seats. We have owned a book store for 13 years, and Charles Wilson is an author to look out for. Move over all you other good writers, he is on his way to the top. Can't wait for the next one.

another medical-scientific thriller from Wilson,
By Beverly "bevreader" (Mississippi) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Game Plan (Hardcover)
In 1990, in a secret underground military base in Montana, five criminals serving time in Leavenworth were used for an unusual and groundbreaking experiment: they had micro computer chips implanted in their brains. But the experiment backfires when the criminals use their now-enhanced mental powers to escape and begin a gradual take over of certain areas of life, including politics and law enforcement. Ten years later, one of the original recipients of a chip dies in a freak car accident in Jackson, Mississippi, and a pathologist inadvertantly removes the chip during the autopsy. Not wanting their diabolical plan to be discovered, the "chippees" (to borrow a term used above) will do anything to recover the chip, including murder. Dr. Spence Stevens, distraught over losing his friend and mentor, is convinced that something suspicious is behind the murder, and asks his old friend Joey to look into it. Joey, an emotionally disturbed military man now turned private detective, begins to unravel a plan so intricate and cleverly-disguised that he bumps into dead ends every time he thinks that he has a new clue. Finally he asks his friend FBI agent Bob Kennedy for help. After Joey loses his life in an "accident," Spence and Kennedy realize that whoever wants them out of the picture is playing for keeps. The twists and turns in the plot will keep you spellbound, and as the plot develops, more and more people become involved until you never know whom to trust. Should Spence trust the beautiful newspaper reporter Christen, his loyal assistant Flo, or even FBI agent Bob? You won't know who is a good "chippee" and who is a bad "chippee" until the very end! Charles Wilson is a master of the complicated plot and Game Plan is one of his best scientific thrillers yet.

Wilson's Best --and that's saying a lot,
By A Customer
This review is from: Game Plan (Hardcover)
I have always thought Wilson one of the best writers in any genre, and thought Donor a triumph on his part. But Game Plan is his best without doubt, and the best book I've read in a great while.
