The mechanics are very straightforward, and easy to learn. The 7 year old had it figured out, and was making her own moves, without help, after just a couple of games. A typical game is short enough that the 7 year old did not get bored. She'll usually play two or three games before she wants to wander off and do something else.
Although it is fairly simple to learn, there is some interesting planning ahead and strategy to try to prevent other players from winning. You can see what cards other players have available, and anticipate what they might want to do a couple of moves in advance. I am a big gamer geek, who has played much more complex games, and I felt that despite the simplicity of the game I still had interesting decisions to make.

The box contains a mere 20 cards, which are double sided and covered in whimsical art and cutesy rhyming titles, and a rule book with some pretty straight forward instructions. After a quick read through, we were up and running in no time...
