Buy it, it's three products in one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gameshark CDX for the Sega Dreamcast, June 24, 2000

I was familiar with the Gameshark having had one when I had a Nintendo 64, so I was just itching for Interact to put out a Gameshark for the Dreamcast, and they finally did! It's great! I'm now able to RULE over my favorite Dreamcast game, "Resident Evil: Code Veronica" with unlimited ammo and invincibility! The Gameshark is easy to use and I've heard it makes the Dreamcast compatible to play import games too. For all the pre-loaded cheat codes included, and the ability for you to always enter new codes, the Gameshark is invaluable to have for your Dreamcast! Buy one today, you'll be glad you did!

If you need help in beating a game or want to add some fun by playing with infinite ammo in Resident Evil. This is the device for you.

Gameshark works with every game and codes are always being found and added. You can also store games on the gameshark itself for easy activation next time.

It also should have a function to hack your own codes that takes time, but it's worth it in case you can't find a certain code.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some limits, but it makes up for them, October 3, 2001

The Gameshark CDX for Dreamcast is probably the best thing that I bought for Dreamcast. Now I can FINALLY beat Dino Crisis. But, there are some flaws. First is that it can be used ONLY in a standard Dreamcast controller. Another is that you need to use the CD that came with it to enter codes. Third and final that I noticed is that the Gameshark could mess up your game. But the third problem is easily avoided by having multiple saves of different files on your VMU. However, some games only let you have 1 saved game on your VMU. So, you just use multiple VMUs for this problem. The cheats do work, so I would reccomend this to anyone who wants to actually be able to beat a game completly. And that would be just about everybody

At first, getting the gameshark sounds like good idea. Why not? You can put codes into all of your favorite games, cheat, and overall increase the replay value. In addition, the Gameshark CDX allows you to play Imports. That alone should make it a delight. So why only two stars? Simply because of how difficult it is to get new codes. Interact has made it impossible for anybody else to create codes on their Gameshark, and illegal for anybody to post codes onto their websights. As a result, the only available place to get new codes is [their website], which pumps out new codes for various games at a snails pace. Now, they do take code requests, but most owners of the Gameshark CDX have been waiting for their requests to be fulfilled ever since the Gameshark first came out. All and all, if the people at Interact who run Gameshark websight posted new codes more often and acknowledged code requests, Gameshark CDX would be a fun toy to have on your Dreamcast. But as it currently stands, getting new and interesting codes for the games you want is impossible, and therefore, makes the Gameshark CDX a waste of time and money.

If you are a gamer who has never tried playing with a Gameshark, you have no idea what you're missing! If you have never owned one and are thinking about buying it, I highly suggest that you do because you won't be disappointed. It gives you the ability to go back to your old games and do brand new things with them (ex. being able to teleport throughout any level and shoot lightning bolts from your hands in Tenchu: Stealth Assasins for PSX). It also lets you go through games more quickly while still enjoying it, which is great if you work long hours and don't have lots of time to spend on a game. Going through Resident Evil with infinite health never made it any less of an experience for me - any great game will be the same way. Gamesharks are very easy to use and are constantly expandable for new games. I love them and think anyone who tries them will feel the same. Don't miss it!

4.0 out of 5 stars My personal look on Gameshark CDX for dreamcast, June 19, 2001

Gameshark CDX is great for many games. It's got me out of many jams befor. But you should remember some things. Gameshark messes with the accually programing of the game. This will not hurt your disk, but may corrupt your saved game. Unlike the gameshark for other systems, the cdx can not have it's codes turned off to prevent the coruption of games. Also, the cdx doesn't allow you to create your own codes. and the last con is with the opening of many multi-player games, this device is now considered a menace to players who don't use it. But some pros of the gameshark is that it can help players who are stuck in certain games beat that one part. Plus with the internet options on dreamcast you don't even have to put in your own codes, just download them from the internet.(But I've never got the save codes from gameshark.com to work) The CDX can also be used as a memory card. I've also heard it has been used as a type of boot disk. Any type of hex edit code works on it, even code breaker codes. This is one of the most popular types of game hacking devices. So if you really want a dreamcast hex editor, Gameshark CDX for dreamcast one of the best.

2.0 out of 5 stars Interact dissed us big..., February 28, 2001

Gameshark for Dreamcast... three of the most eagerly anticipated words from well before the Dreamcast hit the market. Then when it did, it was found that it was capable of enabling a small number of imports to be playable. This alone sold tons of the small wonder.

Then, the bomb was dropped: Interact encrypted the codes. Why? Because Interact officially declared (and in as many words), that they were the ONLY source for Dreamcast GameShark codes...you want codes, you go to the official gameshark site and take what they give you. Which, as many have found, is pathetically few codes. The Game Shark Code Creators Club devised a method to create codes for it, and were promptly nailed by Interact. So now, other companies have developed their own, non-encrypted solutions, and I'm getting one as soon as I can find one (probably Xploder)

But back to GS CDX... it's VERY poorly designed, fails to fit in MANY popular controllers, and develops contact failures in mere months. I hope the other companies do better.

The only reason I gave it a 2 star rating is for the partial import ability, but when the contacts fail, it's all over anyway.

<sigh> I've been such a loyal Gameshark fan (every unit before the CDX versions are HIGHLY recommended)... but not anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bite like a Shark !, March 10, 2000

Enter the Gameshark ! Before help carts and discs like the 'Shark' were created, all you could do was endlessly replay the same part of the game till you figured it out (2 weeks later ! ) or as many do, simply put it away and wonder how it all turned out at the end.Gameshark permits various 'cheats' to be used on most all current games. When a new game is released, gamemags and internet updates let you add the new cheat specs into your Gameshark as well as the large number of cheat power that is already loaded into it when purchased for most all games on the shelves.Cheats vary depending on what game is played, but most cheats protect your on screen character from harm, or let him have all weapons or other items you normally would have to work hard to get or find or earn ! Often you can skip to levels you havn't earned, or add powers to your character that he would not have at all normally, like weapons VERY EARLY in the game .. A must have item when games are simply too hard for you,or the program difficulty is simply unfair ... even the odds !Finally finish all you paid to see ! GAMESHARK !

Hey everyone. This can help you out a lot on games. Times when you get stuck need a little help getting through. The bad pert of the gameshark is if you buy a new game and use the gameshark immediatly you will just ruin the game. So giving you a hint try the hardst to beat the game before you use it. Also try your hardest not to use it unless the part just blows your mind and plainly makes you mad Use It. JUST DONT USE THE GAMESHARK IMMEDIATLY OR THERE IS NO POINT IN BUYING A GAME, UNLESS YOU BEAT THEN USE THE GAMESHARK. IT'S MORE FUN THAT WAY! HAPPY GAMING TO ALL!
