A fascinating, one-volume university education in con games, June 29, 2009
This review is from: The Con Game and "Yellow Kid" Weil (Paperback)
Have you seen the movie "The Sting?" Of course you have. It's a great movie.
And the plot appears to be ripped from the pages of this book. This is a very interesting autobiography of a very accomplished con man. Would you like to learn how to make a fortune giving away "resort" land in Michigan? Here's how to do it.
What makes this book great is that The Yellow Kid just comes out and admits he was a crook. "My Adventures With Your Money" doesn't come close because Mr. Rice could never bring himself to just say it. The Yellow Kid was proud of it. Birthday articles about him were a staple of the Chicago newspaper businss for years. And each year the amounts he stole grew and grew.
I highly recommend this book for self-defense. Read it, understand it, and you will probably never be a mark yourself.
One note, please. I'm really tired of reading about law enforcement "stings." They aren't stings because the crooks realize what's up when they get arrested. In a pure Sting the victim never catches on.
Read the book if you want to learn all about it!
