5.0 out of 5 stars trust nintendo brand
good and comfortable controller (better than the N64 ones were). It works much better than a 3rd party controller, such as madcatz. If you plan to, or have played "super smash brothers melee"(great game) you will notice how much easier it is to pull-off moves with a nintendo brand controller. It is worth the extra money, no-matter what it says on the third party...

3.0 out of 5 stars Made in China GameCube controllers
I purchased two sets of these and have only used two thusfar. So far, so good.
They currently work as advertised. Can't say anything bad about them. They don't
have a very good vibration, but it's OK. Thusfar, the buttons work very well, but time will
tell. Shipped quickly. Would do business with them again.

good and comfortable controller (better than the N64 ones were). It works much better than a 3rd party controller, such as madcatz. If you plan to, or have played "super smash brothers melee"(great game) you will notice how much easier it is to pull-off moves with a nintendo brand controller. It is worth the extra money, no-matter what it says on the third party company's package (dont be fooled by a third party controllers extra button: the "M" button, it does nothing because a nintendo brand controller doesnt have one and developers design games according to nintendo brand controllers). I never use my cheap madcatz controller (madcatz controller often malfunctions as well), this one is much better, and black goes with everything. My rule of thumb: Nintendo brand game accessories are more reliable, longer lasting, eye appealing and overall better than third party distributers. *please vote yes if I helped*

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent controller., May 18, 2004
When the Xbox, PS2, and GC were first on the market in 2001, (PS2 came out in 2000, but wasn't in supply until the other systems came out) there was much arguement about which one had the best controller. PS2 usually will win, but I have to disagree. I find the GC controller to be the easiest to use. This controller is identical to the one you would receive when you purchase a Jet Black Game Cube. Please note that the Game Cube only comes with one controller, so if you're planning on playing two player games you'll need to get another one. Yes there are cheaper ones on the market, most notably ones from Intec, Mad Catz, Pelican etc, HOWEVER if you read the fine print in your warranty, using any 3rd party product such as those, will automatically void your warranty with the system. For the few extra dollars you spend it will be well worth your purchase. This controller is also very rugged I've had my Game Cube since 2001, and my controller has been stepped on, spilled on, etc, and it's in perfect working order. Save yourself the trouble, and get one of these.

5.0 out of 5 stars An actual review for this item, January 1, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
The other reviewer seems to think that an item review is the place to rant. I have no idea what he is talking about. I have ordered dozens of items from Amazon and have never had any problems. My orders have always arrived before the expected delivery date.

As for the controller, there is no difference between the platinum, black, purple, and orange controllers. I have three GC controllers and they have all stood the test of time. If you don't mind the lack of a rumble feature, the Wavebird wireless controller is the better way to go. I do like the rumble feature so I stick with the corded ones.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great controller for playing GCN titles on your Wii, April 7, 2007

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this for playing Gamecube titles on my Wii. Works perfectly, and fits my hands rather well despite its small size.

My only complaint is that the d-pad (cross) is quite small. Nintendo should have made those at least a little larger. The d-pad is ok, but third party alternatives offer larger d-pads (and usually less responsive buttons).

Still, this is the cheapest road to backwards compatibility for your Wii, and you need a corded controller if you want the rumble feature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Controller! Great Color!!!, January 24, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
First off I want to say that I did not buy another controller for my GameCube yet, but bought the platinum edition system and it came with one controller. My first color pick for the GameCube was this, and that would be followed by Black and then blue, anyway I am here to review the GameCube controller in general.
It is nice and compact, and very comfotable to hold and play. The L and R buttons are a nice place to rest your fingers on when playing, I love everything about the controller. I admit the X Y and the kydney shaped ones are hard to get straight but they arent like the PS2's and Xboxes with all those shapes! Definetely get a gamecube! The controllers rock!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Controller for Wii (GC & Virtual Games), Best Also for the Gamecube, May 23, 2008

The Wii classic controller is a bit awkward and hard to use. Although it has an advantage of being wireless, you still need to attach it to the Wiimote (where it dangles like the Nunchuk). This is more of an issue when you play older Gamecube games and downloadable virtual games when you need to press a combination of buttons to run and jump at the same time. Too bad, the jump button (on the Wii classic controller) is far from the run button and much smaller than the original design. For these reasons, the original GC controller is still the preferable choice.
I have used other 3rd party controllers and nothing can get close to the original Nintendo controller.

Pros:
- Perfect response. The most annoying thing that some 3rd party controllers are notorious to is snapping back to the opposite direction when you wanted to have your Pacman or Mario guy turn right or left.
- Perfect handgrip
- rumble effect
- Unlike the Nintendo "Wavebird", this is still available.

Cons:
- Wired
- Expensive, as Nintendo has almost abandoned the Gamecube console for Wii and very few are left.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Controller, August 2, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I've been wanting to buy this GC controller so that i can play Super Smash Brothers Brawl on my Wii and it works perfectly. Not only that but now i can now purchase Wiiware and Virtual Console games that cannot be played by the wiimote alone. As we speak i am playing the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The controller has been marvelous and works great. Of course like many others might have stated in the past the only problem i have with it is the awkward placement of the Z button but other than that everything is fine. I would recommend it to everyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Wii, December 24, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this for my Nintendo Wii...I didn't want to spend a lot as I'm not sure how many Gamecube games I intended to invest in, but I'm pleased with the product based on the use I'll get out of it. It's definitely not the nicest controller one could get, but it works great with Nintendo Wii.

5.0 out of 5 stars Durable, Perfectly Done, October 9, 2004
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Wow!! Nintendo has perfected the gaming system controller. All of the buttons have perfect positions and are very easy to get used to. Microsoft didn't do very well (" AHHH! THE CONTROLLER IS EATING ME ALIVE"). Sony really messed up. But Nintendo, a brand everyone trusts, makes it best. NOTE: DO NOT BY 3RD PARTY CONTROLLERS!! THEY ARE BAD!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The ULTIMATE controller for N64 virtual console games!, May 8, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Pretty much every game on the Wii's "Virtual Console" runs perfectly using the "Classic Controller" extension for the Wii remote. But for the N64 games, I recommend the "Gamecube" controller. The reason why, is that while the classic controller is perfect for "2D" games (NES, genesis, SNES etc.), it is not very "ergonomic" for the "3D", N64 games, because the joysticks and buttons are layed-out in a way that it can make your hands feel very uncomfortable after playing for long periods of time. (all due to a lack of hand-grips, and the joysticks being placed WAY below the D-pad) Plus, the fact that you have to lug the Wii remote under the darn thing makes it feel very awkward to handle.

But, when you play with the "Gamecube" controller, all of those problems are pretty much solved. Because the controller plugs directly into the Wii, the weight feels much more "balanced," and thanks to the controller's comfortable design, your hands will no longer feel irritated due to a lack of handles, or having to reach your thumb over to the joystick just to play the game, because this controller has handle grips for once, (very comfortable ones i might add,) and the joystick is right where your thumb normally sits! Plus, the joystick itself seems to be more responsive than the analogue stick in the "original" N64 controller!

If you enjoy playing Nintendo 64 games on your Wii, I highly recommend picking this baby up!
