5.0 out of 5 stars for pokemon fans June 27, 2006
A Kid's Review
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I love all the pokemon games, and this machine gets you all the stuff you want and need. Despite all the guides I bought, and me and my friends traded for hours on every pokemon game availible, we still came up short on the number of pokemon out there. This system alows players to get infinite master balls, rare candies, boosts all your pokemon up to level 100, plus you can make it so that you can catch any pokemon in the wild like mew and celebi on level 2 and make them up to level 100 so it is really great, I would buy this, I totally recomend it

5.0 out of 5 stars Take it from an experienced gamer. November 26, 2006

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I've had about four years of experience with gamesharks in the past, and this is one of the best ones I've had! This model (Madcatz Gameshark GBA Carabiner) is an improved design from the older boxier versions. I have been using this on my Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and it is a huge timesaver! I would suggest though, that you be careful when using it. Some codes can have a high chance of possibly ruining your game and/or gameshark. I suggest looking up a gameshark guide on sites such as gamefaqs or ign to get more info on which codes are the safest to use.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware March 5, 2007
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
When the manufacturer of this particular product wrote in the fine print that you should not activate too many codes, they weren't kidding. If you activate more than 5 codes at any given time, your game shark will crash and will never be useable again. I've tried just about every method for recovering a crashed game shark, including the "cloning" technique on the game shark website, but none of it brought my game shark back from the dead.

I don't have a problem with the fact that the folks over at game shark made a product that crashes when too many codes are entered. I just wish that 1) They were more forthcoming about this information and 2) They would explicitly state that 5 codes is the maximum number that anyone should use for any particular game. The 5 code rule mainly comes from the web boards where thousands of unhappy customers have voiced their disgust for this product.

When I first bought this game shark, it worked very well. The interface was pretty straight forward and the codes generally seemed to work. Then I made the mistake of activating a 6th code in one of my games and I haven't been able to bring my game shark back from the dead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great but BEWARE November 30, 2006

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This Gameshark is great. Be sure that you do not turn on more than 10 cheats or the Gameshark will crash and require a replacement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't be any better! May 10, 2009

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I have used this Gameshark at least 20 times since I bought it. Each time I played for at least 20-30 minutes. No freezes, no hangs, nothing but pure fun and it exceeded my expectations.

I hate to offend some of the review posters but it looks to me like some of these are under 16 years of age, who perhaps need a bit more experience and patience. When you buy an item like this that modifies coding in a game you have to be extremely careful what you type in.

First thing I did was go to the official Gameshark website. It says "if the gameshark gives you a warning that you have too many codes it will freeze, DO NOT PRESS START (as the Gameshark itself recommends) but turn off the game instead"

I know it is tough to deal with mislead instructions. BUT you can't go wrong when you turn the console off. If something doesn't work, or the game looks funny, DO NOT SAVE, do not turn the Gameshark off, turn the whole system off. Note that I emphasize in DO NOT TURN THE GAMESHARK OFF, I mean it, you should have no reason to turn the Gameshark off, instead turn the GBA off. This is my third Gameshark, I owned the Monster Brain and the Game Xploder. I never ruined any of my games.

After 3 years using the Gameshark 3.0 with my Pokemon Crystal game, my son and friends (about 12 years old) somehow managed to crash the game. Needless to say the Poke Crystal was fried.

Bottom line, if you don't know what you're doing, consult someone who knows how to work it. Or perhaps and adult can help you work it properly. Dealing with coding is serious business, and these games are nothing short of a micro computer. You need to do the right things otherwise they will crash.

If you are in doubt, just don't get it then, or work with a spare game.

5.0 out of 5 stars I cheat and I'm... well... sure, I'm Proud of it! May 23, 2007
By Tyler V
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
To be honest, there's a slice of the video game masses that believe that all types of cheating is wrong when it comes to video games, and, respectfully, maybe they're right. But there are times where you can't just use "hard work" to get all you need in a game. For example, you're playing Poke'mon Sapphire or Ruby. There are not as many people who are out there patiently waiting for you to come and trade them. How are you going to get the Pokemon from other versions? And so, I introduce the sleek, intuitive Gameshark (Sp). Holding codes for hundreds of games, it can provide advantages for those who just need a little extra item or those who get down and dirty andwant to get it all the easy way. That's me, by the way. I like playing the game through and doing the best until I beat it. Then you can just push a few buttons and.. bada-bing! Super Power-ups! With this great thing, anything is possible! Get yours today!
