These S-Video cables definitely helped the visual quality of my N64 on my 46" Dynex HDTV. But don't go in expecting some sort of amazing new experience. It is ultimately an N64 on an HDTV. It will only get so good. These cable eliminated a lot of blur and increased the sharpness of objects in the foreground. Once you go past a certain point though, things get fuzzy again.

Solid black line directly through center of TV screen separating two different 'doors' for the game I was playing (or trying to). Game that was being used was Super Smash Bros. Melee. TV being used was a Sony Bravia HD. Do not buy this. Next thing I plan on trying out is the monster cable with s-video built in. Big massive disappointment.

Did not receive same product as shown in picture. S-video produced extremely grainy picture. Composite video and audio worked as it should.

Unfortunately, the product didn't work for me. The s-video connection gave an image with a very grainy look to it. Surprisingly, the composite video connection gave a much better image.

This actually helped a lot with text and visuals as far as non HD games went for the N64 and Gamecube. If for some reason you happen to be playing these older consoles and you have an HDTV (with S-Video) I would recommend this. This cable makes the difference between seeing in game text clearer and a huge migraine

I bought this cable for the express purpose of using the S-Video plug. I was quite disappointed when I hooked everything up and saw the picture was only marginally 'sharper' than the composite. To top it all off, there's a faint red checker board pattern overlaying the entire screen. I will say, the cord works fine for composite, but why buy this if you're just going to use composite? If you want a quality S-Video cable, this is not the one you are looking for.

After months of use, if I had to sum it up, I'd say the product "works" to a point, but falls into the "low quality" cable department as far as the S-video connection is concerned.

The S-video connection removes the typical color bleed you get with a Composite connection and enhances color, but suffers from a "dot-mesh" effect, that is associated with low quality S-video cables. While the picture still looks crisp without the color bleed, the dot-mesh that covers everything in tiny, hazy, black dots makes the picture appear darker over all, leaving your "improved" color vibrancy worse off than the composite connection.

With this cable your choices are:

The S-video connection, featuring crisp textures without the color bleed associated with a composite connection, but sporting a dot-mesh effect that weakens color vibrancy.

The Composite connection (which most likely came with your original Nintendo 64 anyways), featuring bright colors, fuzzy textures, and plenty of color bleed.

Over all it gets the job done, but could have used more shielding for the S-video connection to eliminate the quality killing dot-mesh effect.

I recommend this cable only if you are not a complete quality nut. Apparently there are better S-video cables for the Nintendo 64 still out there.

This cable has poor video quality compared to the Nintendo cable. It seems like there is interference. I do not recommend buying this.
