Book Description

LET THE GAMING BEGIN

Eamon's looks are to die for, his body screams sexy and his brain is worth millions. Barely thirty and master of a video game empire, he has freedom, money, and babes. When, he meets Sarah, a gifted underachieving, paralegal-choir girl by day and gamer girl by night, he's intrigued. After all a girl who reads a book on quantum physics one day, and a major Game Guide the next has got to be...interesting. But when she almost ruins his hostile takeover, he vows to get even.
Sarah thinks Eamon is too good to be true. She’s certain Eamon wants one thing from her, and it isn’t her body; it’s her inside knowledge of the video game company she works for. But she can't resist the chance to date him, and then he makes her an offer she can’t refuse.
Let The Games Begin. Eamon wants Sarah to take the heat for any problems with the hostile takeover.. Sarah wants to save people’s jobs and a game that just missed being great. But how do you triumph when your opponent sets you on fire and all you want to do is surrender to passion? What do you do, when winning means you have to quit playing the game?

5.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable read! May 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I download a lot of books but rarely read them all the way through. This was different -- I enjoyed learning more about the gaming world, there was romance and a good plot, and enough sex for those who want it. It was very much Fifty Shades of Grey in the gaming world, and parts were a little like Pretty Woman, but both with a more independent and intelligent heroine. The only distractions were that the entire book needs an editor to proofread it, and maybe a little too much detail about what the main characters were wearing. Oh, and the techie terms and name pronunciations should have been up front or referenced at the beginning. Looking forward to reading more from this author!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gamer Girl is a Fresh Romance January 2, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I wasn't sure if I would like a romance novel involving the video game industry, but I gave it a shot and was glad I did. I learned a lot about the industry, but it didn't interfere with this fun romance. Sarah is my kind of girl, she never gives up and Eamon, despite trying, doesn't get the better of her. Even when he punishes her by making her fire her own friends, she finds a way to lessen the blow. I loved it when they finally hooked up...it was HOT and romantic. Although there isn't a lot of sex in the novel, what is there is well worth the wait! This was a quick read and a great first novel. I hope to read more from Carmen. Even if you're not a 'gamer' you'll enjoy this romance. At $2.99 it was a great bargain.

4.0 out of 5 stars I really liked this dispite the title and cover.... February 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I actually cried twice! This is a heart wrenching romance. I’m not a gamer, my 17 year old son is. He chose this book for me to read as a joke. Joke was on him, I really liked it. My reasons for 4 stars and not 5; the male character couldn’t be that stupid, and the ending was too quick. I feel the book needed and epilogue which I needed for closure. I love a book that makes me “feel", this book did that. I look forward to more works by this author.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not really hot, but a decent read March 8, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I had some expectations going into this book from the premise and the heat implications on the cover. The book starts off a bit slow and is written very 'proper'. It sounded a bit stiff and very 'English', especially in the dialogue. Over description was an issue and slowed down the reading pace quite a bit.

I did like the book because of the gaming company aspect. I found that unique and quite enjoyable, as I myself could be classified as a 'gamer girl'. I did find it a bit strange for Sarah to go from paralegal to gaming project administrator, but she showed the skills and brought the team together.

What I didn't get was why the author made the lead man, Eamon, such a flippin' d*uchebag. There is nothing at all to like about this guy. From his actions, his thoughts to his conversations with Martin... I was hoping Sarah would wake up and find a better guy. Because Sarah kept going right back, it made her into a wet-noodle of a woman, which didn't fit the rest of her character. I kept hoping she'd at least slap him, because I know I wanted to.

4.0 out of 5 stars I gambled on Gamer Girl and hit the Jackpot! August 2, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm not one to read a book and give 4 or 5 stars ESPECIALLY if I'm not moved to believe it's a good book. I'm all for encouraging people to perfect their craft but I'm also not going to lie to potential buyers/customers (I hate when I find out I've been deceived).

With that being said, I enjoyed this book. The characters were real (felt like people you would know or a story you heard via eavesdropping). I'm so glad I read this story because it was a nice departure from the simple drivel that is rampant on Amazon (with books that cost $4+ and tired story lines written by I'm assuming young adults/teenagers with over-sexed imagination. I'm basing this on the juvenile heroines).

This story had a level headed heroine who again was human and not fantasy world perfect. Again, I LOVED it and would encourage anyone to read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hate to give bad reviews but.... February 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I hate to give bad reviews but I wish someone had warned me about this book. I really hated the hero in this book. He is a just a bad person and the whole drama/angst in this book made no sense to me. It seemed like drama just for drama's sake. The writing style also bothered me...if I had to hear about her outfits in agonizing detail one more time..... I found the both character's actions to be irritating and unfathomable. Reading it became a chore and made me down right surly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and inquisitive September 13, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I had a great time reading this novel. It was so interesting and intriguing throughout. Damon and Sarah would be so wonderful together, I really loved their characters. The storyline was fun to follow, everyone they surrounded themselves with were such lovely friends and family. A great read for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sarah was fun and wonderful July 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Sarah was fun and wonderful. I enjoyed the plot following the game development and the characters. My only complaint is I thought Eamon was selfish and hurt her repeatedly. I did not like Eamon and I thought she deserved someone who treated her better.

More About the Author

Dear Reader:

I've been a story teller my entire life. I was telling fan fiction stories to my friends at sleep overs long before the genre had a name.

I wrote my first novels back when electric typewriters were the hot thing. I wrote them with a toddler and runabout baby tugging at my levis and demanding my attention. Because the living offspring units needed me more than the virtual people in my head, I put the manuscripts away. For a long time.

In 2009, I discovered role playing video games. I became immersed in the world of Thedas and grew entirely too attached to one character named Nathaniel Howe. I ended up writing a 120,000 plus word fanfic about him and a woman I imagined. It was my first novel in a very long time. After posting Angharad's story on fanfic - Seer - I started writing down all those other tales that I held in my head for so long. GAMER GIRL is my homage to the thing that opened my creative door, the one I closed so long ago.

I write Regency Historical Novels that don't really fit the Regency Novel genre. Yes, they are romance but I hope they are meatier and have more history than your usual Regency Novel. I hope to publish some soon along with more contemporary romances.

I was born on the West Coast, lived for a time on the East Coast and landed in the flyover zone where I reside now.

I was graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in social psychology and hold a master's degree in counseling psychology. My main interest in my field was in the area of grief work. My day job, however, was in the legal field. The handcuffs were sliver (golden was above my pay grade) and the work interesting.

I hope you will enjoy my stories. That's what a story teller lives for, to have someone else share the world he or she creates and find it interesting. You can find me on FACEBOOK.
