The best single climbing anthology ever.,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Games Climbers Play (Paperback)
`The Games Climbers Play' is simply the largest and best climbing anthology I have ever read so far. Wilson draws material from climbing periodicals like Climbing, Ascent, Scottish Mountaineering and other obscure magazines. Originally published in 1980, the articles were mostly written in the 60's and 70's. Most of the articles are the best works from British climbing clubs and magazines that the American climber doesn't have easy access to. The topics include everything from sport climbing to expedition climbing. I found every single article entertaining and that is saying a lot considering there are over one hundred articles included.

This review is from: Games Climbers Play (Sierra Club paperback library) (Paperback)
If you are a climber interested in expanding your understanding of the history of our sport, you will enjoy this book. The book is an anthology of selected articles from various climbing journals, and covers the gamut of the climbing experience, including climbing humor, ethical discussions, first ascent epics, and mountaineering expedition trip reports. All the selections are short and are by various authors; the variety of styles and topics keeps the book interesting.
