2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Have you ever acted out a story with your child? What about peek-a boo? With silly faces? If so, then you don't need this book. There are page after page of ideas, but many of them are things that you probably already do with your child. Most of the games are acting out nursery rhymes or songs. 4.0 out of 5 stars Ideas to entertain your two year old, April 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Games to Play with Two Year Olds (Paperback)
The many activities are divided into language, running and jumping, animal, car, art, counting, teddy bear, imagination, nursery rhyme, singing, cooking, nature and quiet games. Within each of these headings the games are subdivided into games for the young, middle and older two year old child Many of the ideas require no or basic household materials. The book is especially valuable in giving ideas that work in the car, doctor's office, etc. I rated this book 4 stars because (in my opinion) some of the activities presented are not new or imaginative (ie sing You Are My Sunshine to your child, or do the Itsy Bitsy Spider with your child and his teddy bear) Overall the book is good and helpful however, and will introduce new ideas and remind you of some tried and true activities for the young ones.

Have you ever acted out a story with your child? What about peek-a boo? With silly faces? If so, then you don't need this book. There are page after page of ideas, but many of them are things that you probably already do with your child. Most of the games are acting out nursery rhymes or songs. Several ideas are rehashed through out the book with just a slightly different twist- such as "how do you move" and "animal moves", both very similar games about moving like a certain animal. So what about in spring- have you ever read books about catepillars and butterflies and looked for them outside? Save your money, or buy a book of nursery rhymes to act out with your child.

I bought this because I was running out of Ideas to play with my daughter so I thought this would give me some ideas, but most of the book I already play with her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful, April 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
While it is true that you would have heard many of the nursery rhymes and games in this book previously, I found it to be a great reference guide. I teach a preschool mommy and me class and also have three children, and this book helped me "jog" my memory with things my older children did in preschool, and what I could contribute to the current class I teach. It is harder when you have 2 year olds in a class as their attention span is only so long, so finding this book really helped me to organize good learning activities for them. The recommendations in this book are great for the 2 year old. You could easily create more challenging activities based on the author's ideas for older children.

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL!, March 23, 2011

This review is from: Games to Play with Two Year Olds (Paperback)
This book is WONDERFUL! It's divided up into games for new two year olds, mid-two year olds, and older two-year olds. It's games, rhymes, projects... it's just genious, when you're sitting around wondering what else to do with your kid besides blocks. I totally recommend this to other mommas.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good resource for teachers and parents, December 26, 2010
When I had two-year-olds, and later when I taught them, I found this book quite helpful. Yes, some of the ideas seem obvious, but there are also surprises and interesting ideas. You never have enough ideas for games to entertain/teach/distract a two-year-old! Parents and teachers of toddlers and two-year-olds will find this a good resource to have on hand.
