I purchased this book years ago only to have it disappear later (we've all had that experience!). This purchase was a replacement, which should give it a high rating from the beginning. In any case, this is one of the finest publications on the subject ever and in my opinion deserving of further editions or updates. If you and your family enjoy games, but are getting tired of the usual, then this book is for you.

The best and possibly definitive book on games of all types - indoor, outdoor, solo, and groups of all cultures of the world. The history and how-to-make-them diagrams set it far above others on the subject. Full of truly delightful surprises and cultural insights. I have yet to find a better book on this subject, bar none. Not only are the games themselves explained, but also how to play them, how to make them, and how they came to be. I bought it when it first can out and have referred to it countless times over the years. Lavishly illustrated with photographs and black and white illustrations, I have enjoyed reading about specific games as well as just thumbing through to see what catches my interest.

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTLY MARVELOUS BOOK IN CONCEPT, WRITING, DIVERSITY, PHOTOS & ILLUSTRATIONS. IT'S ONE OF THOSE UNKNOWN GEMS OF A BOOK. IT CAN BE READ BY ADULTS AND YOUNG ADULTS. WITH HIGH RECOMMENDATIONS.
