I see if we preorder with Gamestop they offer the beta code so we can play on 4/25/11, gold plated retro lancer, and thrashball Cole. I dunno if this is better than getting a $20 credit that Amazon is offering. I wonder if Amazon would add what Gamestop is offering? I'm considering preordering from them now and cancel here. What do y'all think?
GameStop is the only participating retailer offering the beta code. It's official on the GOW3 website. I doubt Amazon can add it. Here are all the permanent unlockable when you participate in the bata. It's very subjective if they all worth $20. I personally think beta access plus the items worth $20. If you are also interested in BulletStorm, each BulletStorm game comes with a GOW3 beta code.
Alternatively, you can pre-order from GameStop, and then cancel it after you got the code. ;)

It would be cool to have the flamming lancer, shotguns, hammerburst. The medal, gold plated lancer, thrashball cole, while neat and would take it the last two you really have to spend alot of time in beta to get those items permanately unlocked. With the Amazon order it $20 plus about $5 saved on taxes so $25 and who knows amazon may sweetin the deal if they do not see the pre-order amounts they anticipate. If you get all that cool unlockables thats great and neat stuff and if you pocket the $5 in tax saving and the $20 in amazon credit thats great too, either way its a win win just depends on what you want....i like the flamming weapons, LOL.........
why not just preorder it at Gamestop for 5 dollars (their minimum)?, and pre-order it from Amazon. With the money you save on Amazon (20 dollars, plus 5 dollars in taxes), you more than make up for the 5 dollars you spend at Gamestop. Then when the game comes out, just don't buy it.
You guys should just do what I do for all the big games. I preorder on Amazon and at GS, so I can get all of gamestops incentives and get it at midnight. When my amazon copy rolls in, I just take that into gamestop and get my money back. Works like a charm.
I pre-ordered Dead Space 2 and got the code for Dead Space Ignition on the receipt. Later cancelled the order.
I also got the pre-order bonuses for Fable 3 and MvC3 (decals), but ultimately got the games at other retailers. On these two though the rep is just cool, you can't normally get release day codes without picking up the game.
I may end up cancelling my gamestop pre-order, but haven't seen anything to make me switch yet. I'm getting the Collector's Edition, and Amazon generally doesn't do a credit on those.
There's literally no commitment to keep your order with Gamestop, even if you participate in the beta. I expect a lot of canceled orders after the beta ends (or hell maybe even right after it starts; afterall you still have the code).
Did you hear that from a manager or just from a store employee? You already have your beta code on your receipt so I'd just cancel it before you move then pre-order it again at the gamestop where you are moving to if you are wanting to purchase it from them at all. I pre-ordered on here and did release date delivery and I"m going to cancel my pre-order at gamestop once I enter in the beta code on the 25th.
Gamestop employee's have also told people that they could just hook up a mouse and keyboard into an Xbox360 and use them to play games with. Obviously that's not true. I don't trust gamestop employee's as far as I can throw them.
