I have an older version of this game that I use in counseling/social skills groups at an elementary school. I am always looking for games that keep everyone engaged and actively involved, and Slamwich fits the bill perfectly. The kids absolutely love it, especially when the "sandwiches" are disgusting (e.g., peanut butter and onions). And, even though the game is theoretically competitive (the player to get all the cards wins), the kids usually enjoy the game play so much that they share their cards with anyone who runs out. Great fun, and very entertaining!

I got this for my daughter when she was 10 and it has been one of her favorite games ever since. It's even fun for the whole family ( 13 & 15 year old even like it). Good game!

This is a fun and unique card game, but not as spectacular as most of the reviews suggest.
Pros: Plastic coated cards are durable Card pictures and colors are vibrant and some have an added sparkle to them making them very pretty Lunch box tin is small, cute, and a great way to neatly store the cards A lot more rules than I anticipated, but still easy enough game for my 3 1/2 year-old to play with a little help Cons: This is NOT a 20 min. game - it can go on FOREVER! I recommend just setting a time limit rather than playing until someone owns all of the cards. Cards are meant to be flipped rapidly so no one gets a sneak peek; unfortunately, my 3 1/2, 6, and 9 year-old cannot flip the cards over that fast, and so they always see what their card is before anyone else, and thus always slap first if they already know that they have a winning card. Kids argue over who slapped first, then cry when they lose all their cards No real educational value Just not as fun as we thought it would be Rat-a-Tat-Cat is one of our very favorites - even for the adults!

Another great Gamewright creation that my 6 yr old and I love to play! It requires a bit of concentration and a quick hand. If your kids like Slap Jack, they'll love this. The illustrations are great. The slamwich "ingredients" are..."interesting"...sardines, french toast, gummy worms...mmm! I highly recommend the Gamewright collection.

My 5-year-old and 8-year-old love this game. I took it to a church function one day and later the kids there begged me to bring it back again! It says ages 6-9, but I think the real age range is much broader. I bought an extra to keep on hand for a last-minute birthday gift! Buy the "lunchbox" version, though, because it is hard to get the cards back into that little paper box for storage.

This game is a lot of fun. My kids (6 and 3 1/2) really like it and both can play it. It's a very fast-paced game similar to slapjack, so it takes a few times to learn how to play it, so it's hard for a new player to jump in. The kids love to slap the cards and shout - it's not a quiet game. If you lose some of the cards, this game is still very playable.

This game is easy to play with young kids (5 and up), but requires a quick hand/brain, so the younger ones will have trouble keeping up with older kids and adults. It is visually appealing (and requires quick visual processing), but not my favorite because I'd rather play a strategy game. This game is more to recognize an item or pattern and slap it first to gain advantage. It is good for kids of similar ages and abilities to play and does not require adult supervision once you clearly explain the rules of play (which are what hinders the younger ones). I recommend it for ages 6 and up.

We played this at my son's friend's house and we had the best time! I came home and went straight to Amazon to order one that we could play at our house! It comes packaged in a cute metal case that looks like a lunchbox. The cards are durable and very colorful and fun to look at. They are shaped like slices of bread and there is a different kind of sandwich filling on each.
What I really enjoyed about this game is that my five-year-old was able to play it with no problem, but it was also fun for the older kids and adults to play at the same time. I find with games that it's often difficult to find something that everyone both enjoys playing and is able to play. Slamwich hit the mark there! I think that everyone of all ages should own Slamwich!

THis game is one of my daughters' favorites ( they are 14 and 17!) THey spend hours and hours playing this game and raved about the new collectible version which apparently is more complex and exciting than the older one. HIghly recommended!

This game has been a hit in every setting we've shared the game, including my own two children, but I'm also a Youth Group leader and have pulled out the game on trips, retreats, etc. It's easy to learn for all ages. The concept is much like the card game War, so one minute you can have many cards and 5 minutes later you are loosing. It's also easy for kids to beat adults, since they tend have better focus and quicker speed to slap the pile of cards. The small tin case is also handy for travel and a nice way to keep the cards together. Don't need to worry about a box breaking apart.
