Product Description

Product Description

The card game with character for 2-6 players, ages 8 years and older.

From the Manufacturer

We first met the Dweebies on a dreary summer afternoon and the first thing that struck us was how they immediately made us smile. Perhaps it was their vibrant colors. Perhaps it was their quirky personalities. Whatever it was, we knew we wanted to get to know them better. After a little investigation, we learned the following facts: 1. Dweebies have a profession or hobby that they¹re wildly passionate about. 2. All have names related to that passion (ie, Super Dweebie, Dr. Dweebie, Fix-it Dweebie). 3. Dweebies have no more than three (natural) hairs on top of their heads. As for the game, we found it was incredibly easy to learn and play, but deceptively hard to win. One of the Dweebies let us in on a strategy tip: Don't let any line of cards get too long. Meet the Dweebies. These uniquely colorful characters are out to capture your heart, but you must capture them first. Round up Dweebies by matching cards on both ends of any row. Seems simple at first... but Dweebies can be tricky, and some will disappear before they've met their match. Collect the most cards and consider yourself the Dweebie-in-Chief.

My own teenage (13, 15 yr old) kids love to play this! There is reasoning involved, thinking ahead, and strategizing involved. Plus it's funny, and enjoyable for adults to play with kids.

Dweebies is a game from the makers Game Wright, who originated from a family in Massachusetts. We have many Game Wright games including Rat-a-Tat Cat, Sleeping Queens, Zeus and the Loose, Granny's Apples, Wig Out, Moose in House, Chomp. Like these other games, Dweebies has superior graphics design, with very cute characters that have their own endearing accessories, funky colors, and a range of facial expressions that can be knowing, mischievous, aghast, embarrassed. That is to say, they are full of personality.

Unlike the other Game Wright games, I did not find this game to involve much strategy. It is mainly a game of positioning matching cards on the ends of a string of cards, to collect as many cards as possible. That's it. Of course, there is some minor strategy of blocking other players, but because the play is in two dimensions (only vertical and horizontal), there isn't much suspense.

The game is excellent for pattern recognition, especially for kids who are not yet reading or who cannot process complex rules. The educational value for older kids (kids older than 10, let's say) is not as high as other Game Wright games. It is also not as fast-paced and does not involve as much adrenaline as Wig Out or Chomp. Therefore we find ourselves playing it much less.

One can't help but like these cute little characters - "Dweebies". This game is simple to learn, quick to play, and small enough to pack along with you. Our family, with children ages from 7 to 16, liked this fun card game!

Great game.

Dweebies is a topgame with almost no rules. Ok, the rules don't look anything: put a card on the table and take another card. Try to take a row. Nothing more.
So, the game is luck-based: the one who is the most lucky player, has the best chances to win.
But this doesn't matter at all. While playing Dweebies, everyone gets excited of the very nice drawing: those dweebies are awesome. And the gameplay is so easy, that you never mind the luck-factor.

A must-have for everyone who loves to play with children or for everyone who loves to play partygames with friends.

My family really loves to play this game. It is easy enough that my son learned how to play at age 4, and there is the possibility of enough strategy that it keeps adults interested. We take this game on all our family vacations now because all you need is a little bit of flat-ish space. We've played on hotel beds, on picnic blankets, on camping tables, etc. If you are looking for a great new family game, give this one a try.

The illustrations are fun and the rules are easy to understand. My kids were playing it on the floor because you sometimes need a lot of room to line up the cards. However after a few games over the course of 3/4 months, i have not seen them play again. They were 5 and 9.

Very fun! The different characters are hilarious! There's also a blank sheet included for the kids to submit their own drawing of a Dweebie for posting on the company web site. THAT was fun, too. :O)
