3.0 out of 5 stars Quite Simplistic
This game is a lot simpler than I expected it to be. It's almost tic-tac-toe like. I played it a few times and was pretty underwhelmed. I think it has potential for younger kids who want to play something strategic, but older kids/adults will probably be bored after a little while.

The worst part about this game is that even with the advanced rules, there is still a huge amount of luck involved. Whatever the case. This is a great game if you are looking for a quick light strategy game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun game, March 8, 2007

I gave this game to my sister and her husband for Christmas and they loved it. It is fairly easy to learn and the games do not require a long time commitment, unlike many strategy games. I enjoyed this game so much, I bought 3 more - one for my grandparents, one for my mentor student and one for myself. It reminds me of UNO with different "house" rules that can be added to make the strategy more complex. I'm still looking for an efficient way to "shuffle" the tiles. It is an inexpensive game for 1, 2, 3 or 4 players that I can play several times a night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Castle Keep, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Gamewright Castle Keep, the Game of Medieval Strategy and Siege (Toy)
I bought this game for my 13 year old sister for Christmas and we had a great time playing it. Its lots of fun with more people, or even with just two. We even modified the rules slightly to make it last a little longer for two players. Instead of making a 3x3 square, we made it 4x4 with 4 keeps. Very fun!

4.0 out of 5 stars good game, but not a big hit with my kids, December 15, 2008

I personally like this game a lot. I think it is fun, uses strategy, and as a busy mom, the ever important...can be done in 15 mintues. But the kids would leave it in the closet most of the time. It gets a fraction of the playtime our other games get. And my kids beg to play games all of the time!

My 9 year old is a knight-nut but even the 6 year old was able to keep up with this game with a little prompting. It is mostly the luck of the cards but it does have some matching attribute skills. The directions have picture examples, which always helps, and the games don't last too long. Overall it was fun and we have played it several times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extra rules are fun, December 26, 2006

I like the extra rules in the game. The rules say it's harder but it's actually more fun.

I bought Castle Keep for my 7 year old last Christmas. We both enjoyed playing it from the first game. It's a year later and we still both like to play it. There's more to Castle Keep than just luck. There's strategy involved when a player has to decide whether to build his own castle or attack another's castle, in figuring out how to build a castle defensively, and in deciding how many tiles to put down or hold back. Yet, it's easy enough to start playing right away. There are advanced rules to make it harder, if desired. The simple version of the game can generally be played pretty quick, which is great when you want a fast fun game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast and fun game for all, January 1, 2010
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

I was introduced to this game at a boardgame convention, and it immediately hit my list of games to add to my collection. It is a fast playing, easy-to-learn game that still involves a level of strategy to keep it interesting for all ages. The shape and color sorting aspect to the game makes it accessible to slightly younger players, although I would not recommend it for children much younger than eight.

The rules instruction took us less than five minutes when no-one at the table had played the game before. You use castle tiles (walls, towers, and keeps) to build a 3x3 castle faster (you hope) than your opponents - but you also have the opportunity to attack your opponents' castles and win the game via that alternate method.

I highly recommend this game as lighter fare for your next game night. The quick time to play makes it a great filler when you've had too many long games and it makes it a nice addition to a friendly gathering.

We stumbled into this game at a garage sale and have found so many hours of enjoyment. I play it with my six year old and it is fabulous. Great for the imagination and analytical thinking.

This is a great game for adults and children to play together. It develops matching skills with a little strategy. Your kids might just beat you! The cards are pretty durable as well so the game will last.
