This is my first machine and first go-around at stringing. I'm nowhere near a certified stringer; I bought this unit because as a player, I always wanted to know how to string, and later in life, I wanted to save money in the long run by stringing my own racquets.

My friend who taught me to string (which I recommend, as opposed to reading a manual) recommended this specific machine. He told me that a turn-crank and digital machine such as Gamma Progression ST II Stringing Machine might not be necessary, and he was mostly right. I've been very pleased with my string jobs. I had my reservations about a dropweight machine, but have found no compromise of quality. Then again, I'm not a professional player!

I bought this because of the full tray with six holders (as opposed to two, in the Gamma Progression II 200 Tennis String. Definitely do this, and definitely buy a machine with anchored clamps as opposed to the hand-held ones. I'm very satisfied with the clamping, it retains tension very well and do not move much after removing tension. The turning tray is easy to use, and I've never had an instance yet of clamps or lever losing grip and damaging my strings. The one exception is, I always use a piece of card-stock paper as a layer of protection for my string when doing the first couple of mains. Also, it's a little tricky to string the polyester strings. You might have to gross up the tension by 10% or so.

The tools it comes with are also very good to use. The one I use the most is the spring-loaded needlenose pliers for when I'm tying off.

I did a lot of research before I bought this and I am very pleased with my purchase. The six point racket holding system is great and the fixed clamps work as claimed and are made out of metal. I know some people don't like the drop weight system but I think it works very well and once you've done a few rackets it's very easy to use.

The turn table is not strong as should be. Stringing crosses, the clamp moves an inch (sometimes more) sideways jamming to the main strings after releasing cross string from griper. The table is three peaces mounted together by factory (not good). Also the turn table base is not properly square, one end always spins higher than the other side. Do not recommend.
