I bought the 30lb version at a local PetSmart but returned it b/c although it was the right size, I returned it and ordered the larger 40lb version so I could buy larger bags of food for my puppy which per pound cost less. Anyhow, this container is great. It is space saving and not clunky and it really does seal the air out of the food. The description on Amazon doesn't say whether the top is black or granite but I received the granite one. Some containers are twice the price but don't do half the job. I'd recommend buying it from Amazon/Petfooddirect since it was the cheapest I could find anywhere (it's also hard to find in retail stores). Buying from Amazon will be a few dollars cheaper in shipping than directly from Petfooddirect. Pretty much, it's a garbage can with a nice lid for $26.51. Not bad but when you consider it's just plastic, it's kind of pricey but there are worse alternatives out there.

I have been horrified to find the container where I keep my kitty's food a black swarming mass of ants. I like to buy pet food in bulk, as it's cheaper. But it takes a big container to hold it all. And most big containers aren't air tight. The Vittle Vault is like a dream, and a major play in my battle against the ants. The lid fits very snug with a rubber lining on the inside to keep the nasty pests out. And the screw on top, for easy daily access, also has a snug rubber lined fit. This is the best solution I've found for these problems, and I would recommend it to anyone else in a heartbeat!

It had a screw top which was airtight but the lid that screw top, screwed into didn't fit container great and let air in. I would not recommend these for keeping stuff airtight, which I believe they're advertised to be. Besides the lid issue they were very well built.

Nice storage container. Great size and easy to open/close. Very effective at keeping dry dog food fresh and bug-free. Clear container is also great to keep track of when to buy more.
