I really like this air gun, very powerful and accurate.
Hairy D
The SAT trigger can be adjusted for second stage travel, which is something that I'm experimenting with as well.
CoderDave
The CFR is great all that I expected just need to find a good scope that the gun will not distroy.

I have owned my cf-r for about 3 months now, and can honestly say that I am more impressed with each day at the range. I am an avid firearms enthusiast, and have always tried to keep airgunning a part of my practicing, but most airguns are either lacking in acuracy, or require the artillary hold to get good groups. While there is something to say for perfecting the nuances necessary to achieve stellat accuracy from an airgun, it doesn't necessarily translate well to firearms. I am not going to hold a .458 Lott with the artillary hold, so it is nice to find an airgun that can be handled more like a firearms. This air rifle fits that definition.

I fired the rifle from a rest at my gun club's range at 50 yards and was able to get 1.5" 10 shot groups with crosman premier lights, and 1.0" groups with gamo hunters (at 8.3 grains). This is on par with a good quality .22lr rimfire. This air rifle is not particularly hold sensitive, and I was seeing velocities of 930-940 fps with the 7.9 grain premiers. It should be noted that I installed the inert gas piston and am not using the factory spring. Spring velocity will be slightly lower, but still in the 12-13 ft/lbs range.

The accuracy is excellent, the stock is wonderful as long as you are not a small person. This is a large air rifle and it is also somwhat heavy and difficult to cock for children and smaller folks, as I witnessed when letting a 13 year old shoot it. The fiber optic sights are oustanding, and the scope rail is well engineered. The bundled scope is basically garbage, but might be okay on a cheaper airgun. If you are going to use a scope on this rifle, be aware that you will need to keep the overall length of your optic under 14.5" or so depending on the eye relief of the scope.

I really like this air gun, very powerful and accurate. It has a very nice feel. It is louder than I expected even with the silencer. Scope is a cheap one but works fine. Loading the pellets is tricky, a small L shaped allen wrench really helps. It does not have an auto safety so it requires some practice to make sure the rifle is on safe. The under lever cocking takes a little practice and is a little more difficult than a break barrel. A very good air rifle and I would buy it again.

Extremely accurate compared to my other break barrel rifles. A little more difficult to load rifle with pellet. Scope is cheap, need to replace with a higher quality scope. Very comfortable hand grip. Definitely, not a whisper for sound, almost as loud as my Gamo SOCOM Elite. This is by far the best of all my air rifles. I would absolute purchase this rifle without any reservations, just get yourself a better scope. You will not be disappointed!!!!

I recently have rejoined the world of air gunning with the purchase of the Gamo Whisper CFR air rifle. Not since I was a kid with my old El Gamo model 68 have I had so much fun and this rifle has helped me rediscover the world of shooting again. The adjustable ambidextrous cheekpiece works great to accomodate most any height of scope mount you might use. I have a 4x - 16x 40mm UTG/Leapers predator scope mounted on a one-piece UTG scope mount and that combination is as solid as a rock. The underlever gives you an easy way to cock the rifle and the fixed barrel design gives amazing accuracy for a spring-powered airgun. I am still breaking the gun in and spending time on the range punching paper, but it is an easy gun to shoot and it is fun when you can be so accurate. My only challenge so far, is that I can't seem to find a large enough soft rifle case that will fit the gun/scope combination, so I will probably look into buying one of the hard cases that is long/wide enough. This rifle was a 20th wedding anniversary gift from my wife so I plan on keeping it around a very long time, and if you get one too, I'm sure it will quickly become one of your favorites as well. The SAT trigger can be adjusted for second stage travel, which is something that I'm experimenting with as well. I would like to mention though that the Amazon product listing for this rifle was incorrect for what I actually received. It lists a scope that is 3-9 x 40 AO and that is NOT what is shipped with the rifle. What you actually receive is a 4x 32mm AO scope and I called this fact to Amazon's attention to get the listing corrected, but you need to be aware of that fact if you order this item. I purchased a replacement scope that is a Leapers/UTG Predator 4-16 x 40mm AO IR scope and I am very happy with it.Read more ›

This is a great gun. My primary use is rodent control. This is substantially more powerful than my old pellet target rifle. On the range I find it to be very accurate and the scope is more than adequate for my purposes, bright image and good field of view. cocking force is fairly heavy but the cocking lever is long enough to be functional. When fired, it is not silent. However, the suppressed noise seems more the mechanical sound of the gun mechanism than the pop of an air rifle. Loading of the pellets is no problem for the elongated pellets provided with the gun. The flat nose target pellets are a little more tricky to load as noted by previous reviewers. I also really like the stock type, very comfortable to use.
