Selected from 80 volumes of Gandhi's Collected Works, these 119 letters, newspaper articles, interviews, and speeches elicit a brief glimpse of Gandhi from 1920 to 1947. Meticulously edited by Green, a noted Gandhian scholar, the selections are grouped into seven four-year periods; each has a brief introduction and a short chronology of Gandhi's activities. A variety of subjects are discussed, including death, prostitution, religion, fasting, and political relations with several viceroys.
