Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

When Ganesh, the Remover of Obstables, is around, there is no dearth of fun and excitement. Recounted by an all-too-earthly scribe, this heavenly collection of stories about the loveable elephant-headed goodis irresistible. By turns, reverent and irreverent, traditional and contemporary, the author renders these ageless stories relevant to our times.

From the Author

An important aspect of our country's history is its rich narrative tradition. the epics, the scriptures, the folktales and our mythology have been passed down from one generation to another through songs and stories. I am indebted to this grand tradition for the large repertoire of stories to choose from.

While I am not much of a singer, I do fancy myself as a bit of a storyteller and for that I am grateful to my father. A prolific storyteller, my father would embellish his tales with contemporary dialogues and expressions. Doint so, would bring the characters closer to me and I could relate to them better. And I have done exactly that with these stories. In other words, mythology for generations X, Y and Z. I am also thankful to my mother for being my 'humour meter'. Her expressions, as she read the stories were a measure of its quality. So if you don't find it funny, you have her to blame!

Finally, I am grateful to my friends for patiently going through several drafts of the same stories and for their ideas and criticisms.

Jyoti Ganapathi
