Classic Roleplaying in the 1920s-30s, January 21, 2006
This review is from: Gangbusters: 1920's Role-Playing (1st edition box set) (Game)
This is one of TSR's side projects they developed to diversify from the FRPG market of Dungeons & Dragons during the 1980s. The game was progressive in it's day, breaking away from the d20 based system of D&D and delving into a percentile based system featuring skills.
Maybe this game does not muster up well to other RPGs today, but personally, I think it still holds it's own well. I loved these old box games. It comes with the rulebook, an adventure, and a large two sided map of Lakefront City along with counters for some visual aids during play.
For anybody that loves the days of the Roaring 20s, this product is a wonderful addition to your collection. It features realistic and easily playable combat, a great section on vehicle chases and combat, and all the info you could ever want to be the biggest gangster in the 1920s.
Classes featured include criminals, from bank robbers mafia, law enforcement, reporters and private eyes. A great game from the golden age of roleplaying!
