Luv this song -- I don't generally like rap and Coolio. However, I heard this song several years ago on a music awards show (don't remember which one). The contrast of Coolio's voice and the other singer was quite striking & I've thought about this song repeatedly over the years. I finally decided to go ahead & buy the single MP3 onto my iPhone to have it available whenever I want to listen to it. I TRULY, TRULY ENJOY THIS SONG & BELIEVE OTHERS WILL AS WELL..........

The movie soundtrack version is more lush, I think -- as movie soundtracks tend to be. They're made for movie theater surround sound systems, etc.

Great song, though. Reminds me of teaching high school in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Good times, good times...

What can I say, Coolio's best and most known work knocks it out the box! The chorus and the beat makes you feel every bit of the emotion that goes with every inner-city stereotype (read as, sarcastic for those who've never been in the inner-city and believe in every crappy video that BET shows) I was going through my music and realized that *gasp* at some point I had deleted my "Gangsta's Paradise" and grief ran through me...after purchasing it all was right in my musical universe... *whew*

Good Song I used to live in South Central Los Angeles, and Compton CA and I can identify with all The lyrics. This is a real life song that brings tears to my eyes when the vocalist L.V. sings the chorus, "Tell me why are we so blind to see that the ones we hurt, are you and me." I like the music video of this song much better. The music in this song seems surrealistic and touching.

Just to start off ... I hate rap music ... hate it. I think the only reason why I like it is because of the Weird Al song Amish Paradise. There was a big dispute between Coolio and Weird Al but sorry ... since Weird Al is the one to prompt me to buy in ... I think he should thank him.

The song really just flows.
