This review is from: Ganmu: Last Order, Vol. 1 (Japanese Edition) (Comic)
The art is a bit different from the original series, but this wide-eyed (yet more jaded) Gally will be sure to capture your heart. The story also quickly involves a villain from the previous series, Dr. Nova, and takes place in the mysterious orbiting city of Salem.

Though I only own the first volume of the original Battle Angel Alita series, I was able to pick up the story readily enough from the first two volumes. It also begins with child Gally's remembrances of a friend named Ruw and being faced with walking what appears to be several kilometers through a mine-field with the only other option to be shot.

Pick up this volume! Kishiro's art has definitely been evolving, and his new style and shading is nothing short of gorgeous. The fight scenes in Volume 1 and 2 are filled with motion. I, who have very little taste for fight scenes, was impressed by how fluid and clear the motion was. I could almost see it animated already.

A note of caution: it is occasionally graphic, with bones, blood, and entrails and I wouldn't recommend it to young children. But definitely pick it up if you liked the first series!
