Entertaining But Nothing Spectacular About The Series,
By Rich "xman" (CA) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Gaogaigar Season One Litebox (DVD)
If you've seen series like Guyver, Gundam, and Dai-Guard this series pretty much is in that area of story telling and mecha action, the series has the standard heroic group Called GGG who use an incredible fighting cyborg named Gai Shishio who if in need can combine with two other mecha machines and form a powerful robot called Gaogaigar to fight the enemies of mankind especially a group called Zonders who use various mecha and machines to try and conquer mankind. The characters are entertaining and fun to watch but nothing we haven't really seen with other robot mecha animes some of the characters will grow on you and while the ending is kind of the standard it still is a very nice finale to the series. The first and second season box sets come like a lot of the Anime Work releases have recently five dvds per season put into a thin pack dvd case that holds all five dvds in it for each season, the cases again are pretty sturdy not one of the cheaper ones to worry about. The animation while not up to date like the animes for the last ten years isn't bad either it seems a little mix of Pokeman and Gundam wing put together, also while season one has both Japanese voice cast who did great and an English voice cast who were pretty good the second season set is only subbed which irked me a little since you figure if they already dubbed the first part just dub the second season too but oh well. The extras aren't anything to shout about either just the usual trailers and textless intro/ending songs as well as a few gallery pictures, so if you're a mecha anime nut or just like the more light-hearted action mecha animes or just looking for some entertaining anime here's a pretty good choice for you...
