5.0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST ALBUM BRIAN WILSON NEVER RELEASED, November 24, 2007

This review is from: Garage Orchestra (Audio CD)
Let me clarify my review title: I don't mean to say that Miss Cindy Lee Berryhill isn't a singular clarion voice in a vast vapid cesspool of mediocrity (she IS -- in spades, in clubs, in hearts, and in diamonds, too). I only offer the comparison to the great Beach Boy genius as a point of reference. Y'see, on "Garage Orchestra", Cindy Lee has managed to bottle that very Kickapoo Joy Juice that Brian brewed and fermented and distilled over the course of late-1965 to early 1968 (and beyond). She has captured THE SPIRIT of Brian Wilson's stunning arrangements, his melodic and harmonic sense, and his clever and witty lyrics.

This album and 1997's follow-up, "STRAIGHT OUTTA MARYSVILLE" are the pinnacle, the apex, the summit of Cindy Lee's artistic ouevre. She has done things before and since, but nothing comes close to the absolute genius of this pair of discs. Highly recommended.

(P.S. Cindy Lee also recorded an ingenious song entitled "The Skip Song", which is only available on the compilation "SAN FRANCISCO SONG CYCLE". It almost makes me laugh and cry at the same time.)
