5.0 out of 5 stars worth it's weight in $20 bills
Garage Sale Magic was an easy to read book which gave me all the basics, along with some creative ideas for bringing more people to my sale and increasing my sales. I only wish I knew about this book years ago when I did my first sale. Buy it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not enough information - too general
I was terribly disappointed in this book. It covers 17 chapters in 94 pages, including 5 pages for the title, copyright, table of contents, and introduction. There are 17 pages of cartoon-like pictures and 10 quotations from famous people that take up a page apiece. That leaves 62 pages of content. There are 17 pages of cartoon-like pictures and 10 quotations from famous people that take up a page apiece. That leaves 62 pages of content. The chapter for How to Prepare Your Items for Sale is one-page long, and boils down to "dust and clean it." A huge rip-off. I'm returning the book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Poorly Written - Shallow Book, January 29, 2002

Although I've had many yard sales myself, I felt I could always use more tips and ideas. This book had received several good reviews; therefore, I felt I could learn from Pam and Michael Williams and their supposed years of experience. Boy, was I wrong. To begin with, they need a new proofreader. I've never seen so many typographical and grammatical errors in such a small book. Secondly, the content was so shallow, my 10 year old could have contributed as much information as they did. Lastly, it was loaded with quotes, cartoons, and enough "white space" to fill another small book. It definitely was not worth the money. I'll put it in the .25 paperback book bin at my next yard sale.

I never had a garage sale before, since I never thought I had enough to sell at a sale to make it worthwhile. Most of my merchandise were used books, but after reading this book, I learned how to make the sale worthwhile. I did better than I thought I would do as a result of Garage Sale Magic - I would recommend the book.

I just had my first garage sale last weekend after having read Garage Sale Magic. I thought that the book was not only easy to read, but also gave me the confidence to prepare for my own garage sale. The information was outlined in a step by step format, which made the process easy for me. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in garage sales.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very happy with Garage Sale Magic!, June 24, 2000
This review is from: Garage Sale Magic!: How to Turn Your 'Trash' into Cash (Paperback)
I bought this book after seeing it mentioned in a Readers Digest magazine, and found the book to be very worthwhile. Sure, it could have been written in a shorter book, but this isn't rocket science. It seemed that the writers tried to mix humor and information in a way to make it enjoyable. I read a different book on garage sales many years ago, and this book, despite its light writing style, had all the information I needed to do by far my most successful garage sale yet. I strongly recommend the book for first time or veteran garage sale holders.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative ideas made me money..., July 21, 2000

I'm glad I read Garage Sale Magic before my latest garage sale. As a result of some of the ideas in the book, I had my largest garage sale by far, even though I did it in only 2 days. The idea about adding merchandise to the sale was very worthwhile. I also went into this sale with a better attitude, and had much more fun during the sale. I've read other books on garage and yard sales, but this one packed the most info in the most readable format. I plan on buying their video with some of the money I made.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money!, July 17, 2000

This review is from: Garage Sale Magic!: How to Turn Your 'Trash' into Cash (Paperback)
I read "Garage Sale Magic" less than a month ago, and just completed my first garage sale in almost ten years. The last time, I didn't do well and was frustrated. This time, I made well over a thousand dollars, and plan on having a sale each year. The book pointed out many important things to remember - it served as a good checklist for me before the sale. Very easy to read and put me in the right mood before the sale. I recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun, illustrated how-to with lots of great info, August 30, 1996

The authors combine humor and illustrations with plenty of pertinent facts on making money with your own garage sale. I enjoyed the book, and learned some interesting ideas about promoting your own sale. The authors show us how to maximize our profits, and have fun at the same time. I recommend the book to anyone who has lived in a house, townhouse or apartment for more than two years.

I found this booklet - because it's way too skinny to be a real book - to be somewhat useful at best. It gives you a few good tips, but tells you lots of stuff most people already know when preparing for a garage sale. (i.e. make sure you have change - no kidding! And I thought their suggestion for how much change to have was too little to boot!)

If you can find this book very very cheaply, it might be worth it. If not, cruise the internet for some of the more useful garage sale websites.
