This review is from: En Garde! A Girl's Introduction to the World of Fencing (Paperback)
This "Introduction to the world of fencing" is more of an introduction to the social and emotional aspects of being in a fencing club. It's not clear that the author has any particular knowledge of the sport, and there's not very much here of technical value. I found a used copy of a 1982 book ("Fencing" by Jo Shaff) that was about the same length but much more appropriate for my daughter. I'd recommend that book instead.

Fencing is very different than other sports, and that may be its appeal. "En Garde! A Girl's Introduction to the World of Fencing" is a guide for young girls that wish to get involved in this unique sport. Explaining the sport well from its rules, regulations, to its history and how it came about in a world where the sword has long since been retired as a weapon of protection. "En Garde!" is a great gift to any girl who shows interest in the sport of fencing.
