Editorial Reviews

Review

"Garden Bouquets and Beyond is a reference book you'll refer to frequently, one that's so beautiful you'll leave it out on the coffee table for guests to enjoy."
-- Georgeanne Davis, The Free Press

"The new book, Garden Bouquets and Beyond, is a fine showcase of the best blooms and foliage plants the northeastern garden has to offer with instructions on how to grow them and arrange them in gorgeous bouquets...The book has a classic feel to it...I think it is timeless, both in its style and advice...It's indispensable!"
-- Martha Moments Blog

"Suzy Bales’ books are always a treat, and here she brings her sense of style to flower arranging and the cutting garden."
--New York Botanical Garden - 10 Must Reads for 2010

"'Garden Bouquets and Beyond' by Suzy Bales is a book that's sure to make gardeners anticipate warming weather with even greater urgency...Brimming with voluptuous images of vases filled with long-stemmed pink peonies, sprays of blushing azaleas and other blossoms, this is a book of dreams for growers and lovers of flowers."
-- Kimberly L. Jackson, The Star-Ledger

"[F]or my money, no one writes -- or photographs -- a better garden book than Suzy Bales."
-- Mackenzie Carpenter, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

"I found Bales' instructions not only burgeoning with fresh ideas but written so clearly and concisely, they are easy for even a neophyte to follow. She not only capitalizes on the flowers' beauty, she also cashes in on their fragrance - to the delight of all who view them."
-- Jody Headlee, The Oakland Press

"If you love to see and abundance of flowers growing in your garden but are somewhat hesitant about how to bring their color and fragrance successfully indoors, "Garden Bouquets and Beyond" could be the ideal book for you.  Suzy's book takes found objects, foliage of all colors and seasonal blooms to put together deceptively simple, beautiful arrangements."

I love this book! Even though I'm not a gardener (I'm a city dweller) I love flowers and flower arranging. This book had fantastic suggestions, particularly in the "Tricks of the Trade" section for flower arranging. With a beautiful sense of color and whimsey and style.

I always read Suzy's books because they touch on all the varied aspects of gardening- nearly every one! This is a great compliment to her gorgeous "Garden Parties" book. The "Bouquet" book is wildly creative, and helps even me (the most amateur of amateur arrangers) create some really great arrangements! My weekly luncheons with my girlfriends have become downright elegant parties! Every chapter of this book will change the way you entertain people and family. Our holidays will never be the same!

I've bought several flower arranging books over the last few years. All were better. I would not recommend this as a main reference, nor would it be the first book I picked up for any ideas.

I've always wanted someone to show me how to make beautiful flower arrangements from what's available in the garden -- instead of from some art director's wish list. Her approach is easy to follow and down-to-earth. Love it!!!
