a thoughtful, wise and wonderful album,

Jamie Byrd writes and performs very beautiful, thoughtful songs with intereting, and often wise lyrics. I'm fascinated by such lines as "Words can be flesh, words can be bone/ the voice that you silence is always your own" in Stand on Your Mountain. And the line "Hope is a muscle, you better use it or lose it," from Urban Waltz. My favorite songs are the stirring Gonna Build Me a Barn, the beautiful duet/round String of Pearls, and the evocative Heart of the Wood. My only criticism is that sometimes the album is too quiet, and not all of the songs draw you in like the really great songs on the album do. However, this album is perfect for a Sunday morning, a weekend drive, or anytime you need to create a restful, thoughtful space for yourself. It is rare these days to find an album that conveys dignity, thoughtfulness and grace, but this album does that.

Jamie has a great voice. The lyrics are intelligent and positive. If you like it the first listen it only gets better and more insightful.
