5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful artbook on illustrations featuring wide-eyed girls
This is a book celebrating illustration artists (mostly women) from all over the world. They seem to have one thing in common: the love for wide-eyed little girls. 2.0 out of 5 stars The artwork is printed on black paper and looks horrible
Even if the printing method of this book was more practical and done in a way to showcase the artwork better I would still be underwhelmed by this book. This is a book celebrating illustration artists (mostly women) from all over the world. They seem to have one thing in common: the love for wide-eyed little girls. The book is mainly a picture book, beautifully printed on black paper. Texts are short and sparse. Most of the illustration art is surreal, even gothic. Some of it is sugary, some of it cute, other illustrations are slightly disturbing, or even morbid. All kinds of techniques and styles are presented, but a general feel of unity neverteless remains. The quality of the artwork remains high throughout. Strongly recommended to lovers of illustration, gothic, and surrealism.
