Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Lloyd has written nine garden books, and Rice has written three. This paperback's format is a dialogue between these two English gardeners. They cover 230 genera, which amounts to thousands of annual and perennial plants. Their first chapter deals with seeds that need extra (artificial) heat to germinate; this is followed by chapters on sowing seeds outdoors and in cold frames. But the bulk of the book is an alphabetical listing of plants, including details about color, form, species, pollination, hardiness, scent, flowering times, and how best to grow them from seed. 4.0 out of 5 stars A great chat from two british master gardeners., April 18, 2008
This review is from: Garden Flowers from Seed (Paperback)
I'm not a flower gardener but this book is quite unusual. Two british gardeners handle each species of flowers they have experience with, trading sentences in a dialog. The photos are just OK, but because the text is genuine experienced gardeners chatting, it makes a conversation worth getting close enough to hear. A 1994 book, but worth buying as if new, master talk worth reading.
