Lloyd has written nine garden books, and Rice has written three. This paperback's format is a dialogue between these two English gardeners. They cover 230 genera, which amounts to thousands of annual and perennial plants. Their first chapter deals with seeds that need extra (artificial) heat to germinate; this is followed by chapters on sowing seeds outdoors and in cold frames. But the bulk of the book is an alphabetical listing of plants, including details about color, form, species, pollination, hardiness, scent, flowering times, and how best to grow them from seed.
