Great for beginner ELLs,
This review is from: Garden Friends (DK READERS) (Paperback)
I love teaching about tiny animals in a themed unit. This is one of my very favorite books for teaching beginning level ELLs. It lends itself to several different Communicative Language Teaching Strategies. Try it- They'll like it.

Fishy Tales (DK Readers, Pre-K-Level 1),
This review is from: Fishy Tales (DK Readers, Pre -- Level 1) (Paperback)
Fishy Tales (DK Readers, Pre -- Level 1)I bought this for a 6-7 year old girl who likes non fiction subjects. She wanted to read this as soon as she saw the cover. The inside of the book continues with bright & colorful photography. The words are fairly simple. Some of the objects in the book are reinforced with word labels. This is a good book for children interested in nature and especially marine life.

This review is from: Fishy Tales (DK Readers, Pre -- Level 1) (Paperback)
My daughter loves picking out all of the creatures in the photos. The words are simple and easy to follow. The photos are beautiful. My only quibble is that the book uses the outdated term "starfish." I hope future editions will correct this to the modern term "sea star".
