Please reprint "The Garden of the Gods" by Gerald Durrell,

This review is from: The Garden of the Gods (Hardcover)
"The Garden of the Gods" by Gerald Durrell is an immensely funny biographical work telling anecdotes from the author's childhood on the island of Corfu. More to the point, it is the third part of the trilogy which begins with "My Family and Other Animals" and continues with "Birds, Beasts and Relatives". Can anyone explain why the first part of this trilogy remains widely available, while the other two books, which are just as good, if not better, are now out of print?

A Jewel of Book!,

This review is from: The Garden of the Gods (Hardcover)
The thrid book in The My Family series and it lives up to the previous two. Lots of nature, sun, sea, olive groves with a cast of mad family members and Greeks involved in all sorts of wonderfully funny situations. A must

This series is one of the best I've ever read. The descriptions of the island, and especially the people, are done with a deft touch of humor that makes me laugh out loud. I love the insight into Lawrence Durrell - to get a younger brother's perspective on the man T.S. Eliot once described as having written "the first piece of work by a new English writer to give me any hope for the future of prose fiction" is a rare treat.

A wonderfully funny book set in sunny Corfu replete with Durrell's hilarious family anecdotes, convoluted Greek imbroglios and enchanting descriptions. The description of different wines is scintillating.

This is the finish to the trilogy of books Durrell wrote about growing up on Corfu. I love all three books for their combination of family memoir and natural history. Durrell writes well and these books are very funny so beware of reading them on public transportation!
These books delighted me as a middle-school aged kid when I read them before and they are just as delightful now as I aspire to adulthood. Some day I will at least visit Corfu, but my true fantasy is to find a strawberry pink villa there in which to retire in splendor.

Published under a different title,
This review is from: The Garden of the Gods (Paperback)
This book was also published under the title of "Fauna and Family" and is easily available under that name. The three books of the Durrell family's adventures in Corfu are among my favorites. After many, many readings they still make me laugh and wish I could go to Corfu.
