Even though I am a dude, I did an extensive amount of research on prenatals. I am a nutrition nut and would not give a supplement to my wife if I did not fully believe in its quality and efficacy. To be clear, do not allow this to replace a high quality, nutrient rich, diet. Ladies, make your man cook for you- vegatables/meat are way too easy, "I can't cook" is a poor excuse for any man to use. My wife has been taking these during her entire pregnancy and for six months prior. She is nearing the end of her pregnancy and these multivitamis have been great. She has always struggled with pills, but, she gets these down easily. With actual folate, not folic acid, and the genuine attention it appears is given to the quality of each ingredient, I am confident these multivitamins will have contributed to the development of the healthiest little girl possible. I recommended these to my sister-in-law when she found out she was pregnant and I would recommend to any other woman/couple.

I did a ton of research on prenatal and heard that these were the "best" prenatal vitamin on the market. Trying to remember to take them three times a day was hard during the first trimester when I wasn't eating on a regular schedule and was feeling sick most of the time. But now that my schedule is more regular I love knowing that I am taking the vitamins three times a day. I would suggest these to any pregnant/postpartum friend.

Since my daughter was born, I've continued to take these while I breastfeed. The vitamins pass through the milk just like everything else you put in your body so along with a good dha supplement, these vitamins are just as great for breast-feeding mothers as they are for prenatal ladies.

I'd also suggest drinking mothers milk tea for healthy lactation -Organic Mother's Milk Tea + FREE Nature's Way Blessed Thistle (100 Capsules). If you have ANY issues with producing milk the tea will definitely fix that and it also helps prevent mastitis which was one of my main concerns.

In summary, these vitamins may not be the cheapest but they do contain the highest quality ingredients and if you are a nursing mom be sure to keep taking them! P.S. A dha supplement is also recommended for healthy baby brain function.

If you are prone to morning sickness and have trouble swallowing pills, these are great. I dump all three into my morning breakfast shake and blend, can't even taste them. I also take a chewable B complex (B6 fends off morning sickness like you would not believe) with a low niacin content, fish oil for DHA and a chewable calcium supplement. Feel so much better on this system than I did in my first pregnancy, when I was sick for 4 months straight!

Breakfast shake:

2 frozen bananas (potassium is great for keeping preggo leg cramps at bay)
1 Tbsp mini frozen blueberries
1 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 Tbsp peanut or almond butter
1 tsp flax seed or flax oil
2 cups (more or less) almond milk
Contents of 3 Vitamin Code raw prenatal vitamins

I have done SO much research on prenatal vitamins, and this is the one I keep coming back to! If you are going to take a prenatal vitamin, this would be the one I would take. The nutrients are bioavailable(readily absorbed by the body) because it is whole foods based. It's great to see that it does not contain dangerous ingredients, and contains lots of healthy ORGANIC fruit and veggie juices, sprouted grains, etc.

The dose being split into 3 pills a day means that the nutrients are better absorbed because you are not taking them all at once(although if I forget to take them during the day I will take them all at night and have not had any probs, but I prefer spacing them out). However, there are MUCH better sources of probiotics than the small amount of the 1 strain in this pill, and I would not count on a pill's added probiotics being alive when you take it. I prefer to get probiotics from probiotic foods: I make my own kefir with kefir grains, which is probably the best source of probiotics period. I also make homemade saurkrat, the old-fashioned way, which is fermenting it (check out the book Wild Fermentation). Kombucha is also good, if you have no mercury dental fillings. Please keep in mind that a pill is no substitute for a sound, healthy diet, especially while growing a baby!

These vitamins did not give me morning sickness(or worsen what I was already feeling) like other brands I have taken.
This supplement is low in calcium, magnesium and vitamin k, and does not contain phosphorus, which you can get from a healthy diet, especially if you are concentrating on eating foods containing those things.

So a really amazing side effect of these prenatals is that my skin has totally cleared up and my hair is super shiny and soft! Seriously, my skin hasn't looked this dewy and young since I was in my 20's. I'm not even pregnant, I was just told to get on these by my Dr. while my husband and I are trying (so it isn't the preggers "glow").

Anyway, thought I'd add that as a possible side effect of these vitamins :)
