A picturesque and colorful overview of garden ornaments,
By
This review is from: Garden Ornament (Smith and Hawken) (Hardcover)
At first glance, this looks like a coffee table book and so it could be. However, you will find this has a depth on the subject. In addition, you will want to read this while contemplating installing your own garden ornaments. In this book, you will find a large variety of ornaments for different styles for different purposes from different times in different gardens. You may want to rethink how to layout your garden or at least to enhance it.
In our backyard garden, we actually have a metal armillary-sphere that is mounted on a tufa (tuff) stand as a focal point. It is quite impressive. Nevertheless, as this book points out even with something as simple as seashells can also be a part of if well placed in the garden. For some inexplicable reason my wife will not let me place one of them there naked Greek ladies in the front yard. Don't think that when you're finished reading this book you're on your own. In the back is a source guide with companies names and addresses where you can pick up the various ornaments or ask about them.
