5.0 out of 5 stars We Finally Found It!
The brick-and-mortars used to carry this, but they've all gone over to the cast-crete kind that cost ten times as much. Phooey on 'em! This one's all you need to keep your feathered friends watered and bathed.

I owned this type of plastic bird bath before and loved it. It was the same idea ~ fill the hollow base with sand or peebles and attach the bowl. It was lightweight, sturdy, attractive, balanced, easy to clean, the birds loved it (and so did my dog who decided it was her favorite water bowl and promptly chewed it away). Now that I live here in Florida, have a another beautiful garden which attracts lots of birds, and have no dog to eat my bird bath ~ I have been looking high and low for another one similar to the plastic one I had before. I've had no luck until only recently when I came across this one at Amazon. I was so tickled to find it and excited about the great price (it was $10.99 then and my previous one cost three times as much). It finally arrived yesterday and as soon as I took it out of the box I knew I made a mistake, maybe not a costly one but nevertheless a mistake. Why?

First of all, this is cheap, flimsy plastic ~ a plastic so thin that the base was badly dented during shipping. It doesn't take much to dent this thing.

Secondly, the bowl was warped and would not sit level on the base. What good is that if you want it to hold water?

Thirdly, it just looks cheap and tacky and is something I would be embarassed to have in my garden.

I just had to return this wanky thing...that or put it out on the curb for trash pick-up. Thank goodness Amazon is so great about returns.

Well, folks, you get what you pay for, right? So don't waste your good money on this cheap, useless piece of junk.

1.0 out of 5 stars Forget It...., June 6, 2011
This review is from: Garden Plast Promo BirdBath, White (Lawn & Patio)
I own a couple of other plastic/resin type bird baths, and have for a few years now. I purchased one of these Garden models last year just because I found it locally so cheap. Resin baths certainly are not the most quality answer to having a much needed bird bath in your yard or garden, but they are certainly a lot less expensive than the more durable cement or metal ones available. Simply said, genuine quality bird baths are very expensive, and a lot of people don't have that kind of cash to throw around. A good solid resin one can be had at a much more reasonable price. Unfortunately, this is not it. First off this bath is made of a cheap plastic, not a more durable and attractive resin. And it sure looks like a cheap plastic as well. For some reason I will never be able to figure out, this bath incorporates one of those bases that you either stuff rocks in or fill with water. A poor, tedious alternative to just making a base broad enough to do the job. The lack of a real base makes this thing wobble and sometimes fall over no matter how much weight you have in the bottom. Finally this bath is just a mere 25" high, and 17" across, way too short and lacking in width to really be an effective bird bath in any event. Birds like and feel much safer being off the ground when drinking and taking baths, and this thing being just two feet high provides none of that luxury to them. Finally the 17" bath basin doesn't accommodate either much water, or room for bathing. In conclusion, this bird bath doesn't look nice, doesn't provide a safe reasonable place for bathing/drinking with its being so small and short, and generally isn't anywhere near worth what it would cost you with shipping here on Amazon. (In my opinion it wouldn't even be worth it with free shipping). My suggestion is forget this thing and search out a better quality, regular size resin or metal bath here on Amazon. Your birds will appreciate you greatly for it...

I purchased this birdbath years ago at a big box store and was delighted to find it here when I needed a new one. It is EXACTLY the same sturdy plastic as my old one.

4.0 out of 5 stars does the job, July 3, 2010

Like someone else wrote, I wanted a simple, easy to clean bird bath. This fit the bill perfectly (I bought something similar at a local store a few years ago that didn't make it through an icy winter and curious squirrels). Yes it is plastic but it works just fine. Potential downfall? If you allow it to ice up, it becomes tippy and the plastic is brittle. The only issue is that the shipping is crazy expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bird bath!, January 30, 2012

These plastic bird baths are great and affordable. I think it looks beautiful outside and the birds love it. I prefer these ones to the ones made of stone. Mostly because I like that it is lightweight. I don't have to worry about my young kids getting hurt by accidently pulling it down on them. I can easily tilt it when I want to clean it or get rid of old icky water from what the birds leave behind (which is a pain to do with the stone bird baths) and it can be moved very easily if you get tired of it being in the same old spot all the time. Just make sure you keep your bird bath out year round, because I notice that when the birds migrate back they will come to find the same bird bath that they used prior to leaving/migrating south for the winter. After many years of owning this bird bath, it finally cracked and I didn't get a replacement before the birds came back from migrating. The same blue jays and other familiar birds from the summer before, reappeared (in the spring I think it was) sitting in the tree above where the old bird bath use to be, just looking down at this emply spot on the grass, as in "where's that bird bath that used to be here". lol. I quickly ran out and bought a new one for them. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars GARDEN PLASTIC BIRD BATH, November 13, 2011

This review is from: Garden Plast Promo BirdBath, White (Lawn & Patio)
I has this item before and it lasted for 6 years through all four seasons. The squirrels has finally chewed the top so I went and purchased a $50.00 ceramic bird bath. That was a waste of money, had it for 2 months before the top finally broke after being dumped on the ground several times. I came to Amazon and purchased the plastic bath again. I love it because if it is tilted, it bounces back again. So I get another 4 or 5 years, it is worth it to me and the birds are still happy.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment!, July 12, 2011

First of all, it arrived slightly dented on the base. The box had been crushed at the corner and there was no padding inside to protect the bird bath. It wasn't significant enough to warrant returning it. I wish I had! When you fill the basin area with water, it slowly droops to one side spilling the contents! When a bird lands on the rim, it wobbles and scares the birds away! It is very flimsy!! It was a bad purchase!!
