5.0 out of 5 stars Very soothing and relaxing the whole way through
As a massage therapist I was a little worried about buying this because one reviewer was annoyed by the chimes - but they aren't really annoying in the least. I not only use this for my own clients, but I will put it on for myself when I receive one. I'm going for Volume II.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Dull
I think I am being generous with one star here.
David and Steve excel in some genres but should stay away from pure environmental efforts. The waterfall/stream sounds on this CD are loud, harsh, and overdone. The sounds are monotonous and just go on and on and on until you just can't stand it anymore. I have a fair number of music/nature compilations so I know what...

This CD is great for meditation, realaxation, unwinding. I use it with my clients when I do visualization exercises with them, and they love it, too. I am excited to see there is a Part II, and am ordering it NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, November 10, 1999

I've designed a surround sound meditation room just for sitting meditation in my house, and I must say this CD is one of the very best CD's I've found to meditate too. It is not just drones (which can be nice too) but soothing melodies with streams flowing, etc. I hightly recommend this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD I've found for getting to sleep, June 16, 2006
This review is from: Garden of Serenity (Audio CD)
I have purchased about a half dozen relaxing/meditative CDs, have a clock with "relaxing sounds", and listened to many more CDs. However, Garden of Serenity is the ONLY music I've found which calms my mind at the end of the day and sends me off into a quick, peaceful sleep. It's almost pavlovian - I hear the first four notes and I'm instantly relaxed. I highly recommend this as a sleep aid.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great as background music for doing Tai Chi !, November 5, 1999

I loved this CD so much I bought the next one that the Gordons came out with too. It makes wonderful background music for doing Chi Gung or Tai Chi. Just had to comment since the current review was so bad.

Hello, I first heard this CD in my yoga class. It wasn't like most music I had heard before, it was sooooooo good! Now I listen to this CD in my car, when I jog, while I write term papers, etc. This CD is good any time and anywhere. As someone said in another review, this CD sould so great on a AC3 sound system. As I am somewhat anti digital you will rarely hear me say this...but this CD truely is 44khz of digital-goodness. What are you waiting for? Buy it, take it home, make it one of the family ^o^

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bliss of Aloneness, September 4, 2008
This review is from: Garden of Serenity (Audio CD)
Painting the scene: sitting by a lake, amidst trees and overgrown grass, dragonflies chasing after each other, the reflection of a hawk flying overhead in the still and sometimes moving waters... ~-~ the sound of tree cicadas, the wind, the rhythm of breath in the body, and GARDEN OF SERENITY playing through some headphones.

Some reviewers seem to have missed the point. This kind of music is at once the easiest and most challenging to appreciate. It's difficult for many people to let go, turn off, and enjoy something without there being a constant doer. The sound of the running fountain on the first piece of the album, "1st Movement: Secret Fountain", is in the forefront so that the listener may listen to it, hear its composite central sound, fall into it, and thereby flow with it totally without reservation. I giggle at those wh complain of the supposed 'monotony' of natural sounds - do you demand rivers to be more tuneful for you? Or ask the rain to make a more tuneful pattering to suite your impatient tastes?

The second piece, "2nd Movement: Nature Spirits", begins as if one had just woken up from a peaceful sleep somewhere, marveling at one's surroundings, in beautiful communion with the world around. It merges perfectly out of the silence of the end of the first piece.

If you want to feel good, calm, peaceful, loving, loved - try this album. It is non-threatening healing music to help you grow and transcend. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Title, May 3, 2008
This review is from: Garden of Serenity (Audio CD)
If you can imagine a garden of serenity then this is the exact music that would be in it. There are only two tracks, however, they sound very relaxing and never get dull or repetitive. Highly recommended if you like wind chimes and flutey types of sounds mixed with a little nature. I found it very relaxing.

This along with Soothing Sanctuary are at the top of my current meditation list. This album in particular has a wonderful "meandering" quality about it that is perfect for searching for that inner quiet. A great find!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Treasure!, November 18, 2007
This review is from: Garden of Serenity (Audio CD)
The length of each track is perfect for non-distracted meditation. Anyone looking for something that is gentle, refreshing and subtle has found the right album. This is also GREAT for a nice warm bubble bath and candles...ahhh...

Another GREAT choie is Oneness, by the Gordon Brothers also.
