First encountered (and started using) Gardena products 15 years ago while living in Europe. The Gardena products are very common in Britain/Europe; available wherever gardening supplies are sold. The "quick-on"/"quick-off" hose attachments work very well. They save a lot of time and frustration in making/breaking connections. Light weight (but heavy duty) plastic. The Gardena On/Off Valve is one of the few Gardena hose accessories that is somewhat fragile. A combination of a few years exposed to sun-light and a hard bang on concrete and the handle breaks (or pops out of the valve body). Still, during it's finite life, it is an important accessory in the Gardena system. When they ultimately break, I go searching for another one. Seal on the "male" end is provided by an "O" rings every four or five years these might need replacing; available for 25 cents at any good hardware.

I'd hoped this cut-off valve would work better than most. It's okay. Of course the big plus is that it fits in easily with the Gardena line. The line is overall excellent and has a long use life. I continue to use this valve but it has never had the tight seal I expect from Gardena quick-connect modules.

I love Gardena garden products. This valve, like all Gardena products, is well made, now it has a stop-flow-back feature which is of considerable value. Makes switching attachments (i.e. sprinklers, pistol grips, etc.)a pleasure compared to the old way. Recommend without reservations.
