I have about a half dozen Gardena hoses so I tend toward Gardena for any and all tpes of connectors. This particular one fits on my 5/8" hoses easily and securely. Yes, the price is higher than what comes out of China but the quality is higher as well. You get what you pay for has been my philosophy for many years and it has paid off.

Gardena products are long lasting and tough. Yeah I take care of my stuff but 5 years of sitting outside in temps between 110f and 30f and the parts still hold on nicely to the hoses. Where I live you cant get hoses with fittings on the ends. These work great. Snap them off and the water stop always works. The quick release still seals very good. This is the second set that I have bought. I needed them for the upstairs hose and for the pressure washer.

I go out of my way to find the Gardena hose repair components because they are so easy to use... you don't need a screwdriver, you don't need three hands and you don't need more than five minutes to do it!
The repair end has an ingenious fitting that goes inside the hose end, then the top is settled on the outside. You may have to even off the damaged part of the hose first, but after that's it's very simple.... thread the top down as far as it will go, and Voila! It's a leak free repair, and you already have your quick connector on the other end.
The Gardena quick connectors really work, and the hose repair pieces are super fast and convenient!!!

This product is amazingly easy to use. Took less than a minute install on a 5/8" hose. I can see where using it on a 1/2" hose may be difficult. A person would probably have to stretch out the hose a bit before attempting to install. For my purposes, it was installed in a flash, and works great!

It did not seem to matter if I bought cheap hoses or expensive they all started to leak at their twist on connections. I just cut those off and replaced it with this product and I am sooooo much happier now. No leaks, easy to connect and disconect hoses. The next hose I will get will be straight from Gardena. That way I have it perfect right away!!!

This is a great product. Better than hose clamp types.

The correct # for a 1/2" is a mystery. The description claims that the connecter will work on 5/8" and 1/2" hoses. It is a "bear" to connect a 1/2" hose (Gardena) to this connecter. I'm sure that the 5/8" hoses will work but not both sizes.
