This review is from: Gardena 8817 Telescopic Swivel Handle For Cordless Grass Shears (Lawn & Patio)
As noted in my review of the Gardena Grass Shears the product came damaged so I sent them back. Once I received the replacement I was glad that I had made my purchase. The Shears worked great. It was kind of a pain bending down all of the time so I was even happier with them after the handle came. Works great and no pain!

This extension handle is really a back saver and makes using the Gardena grass clipper so much easier there is simply no comparison. I never use the clipper without the handle and, obviously, highly recommend it.

The handle has two shortcomings, however, and the addition of two items would make for an even better accessory. I purchased one of those triangular handles for attaching to long handled garden tools (hoes, shovels, etc.) and it really makes a big difference -- almost as much as adding the original handle, itself. Gardena should make one of its own or, better, make one an integral part of their handle, per se. Secondly, the handle needs a wheel mount so that one could move the wheels from the clipper to the handle. By doing so, Gardena's customers could rotate the clipper to edge a sidewalk (blades in a vertical position) and still use the wheels. As it is now (with wheels attaching only to the clipper) when the clipper is rotated, the wheels are, also, rotated becoming unusable. This makes the owner have to hold the unit off the sidewalk/pavement as he/she trims. Being able to use the wheels regardless of the clipper's rotational position would make things a lot easier. How about it, Gardena? Maybe next generation?]

This is a well thought out addition to the trimmer. I am glad I spent the extra money to get it, as I was seriously considering not buying it. I can just walk along my picket fence and this baby just rolls along the ground and does the work. The trimmer is extremely quiet and I love this replacement over my gasoline weed wacker (which was noisy, heavy, and always loosing the string) The only recommendation I would add, would be a way to allow the blades to stay on without holding the button in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth It, July 3, 2011

Having owned a few unsatisfactory battery powered hand clippers in the past, I decided to take a chance on this expensive model. Usually, there is a modest pricing gap between the most expensive lawn and garden products and averge priced products. This gap, however, is huge--but it is worth it. Pluses over its less pricy competition: 1. It has an exceptional battery. It is far more powerful, holds a charge oonger, and recharges more quicly than any clipper I have ever owned. 2. The blades can handle anything, from slicing fine grass to pruning wirey privet. 3. The handle is fantastic. Not only does it allow this oldish guy to prune at ground level withot bending over, it also allows my 9 year old doughter to use it without putting fingers in harm's way. This is a winner.
