4.0 out of 5 stars Great sprinkler for awhile
This sprinkler would easily be a 5 if it were built better. The only metal component is the spike itself, all other parts are plastic. I have hard soil in parts of my yard that make it difficult to sink the spike deep enough for proper performance. This sprinkler did not last a full season without cracking at the point where the spike and plastic meet due to the force...

3.0 out of 5 stars Sprinkler review
The turbo Drive Sprinkler makes two rotations to cover the designated area. The first pass produces a mist spray covering out to 3/4 of the selected diameter. The second pass produces more of a single stream with a narrow spray pattern to cover the outside 1/4 of the spray diameter. In a low water pressure situation the spray may leave a gap in coverage. Works best...

This sprinkler would easily be a 5 if it were built better. The only metal component is the spike itself, all other parts are plastic. I have hard soil in parts of my yard that make it difficult to sink the spike deep enough for proper performance. This sprinkler did not last a full season without cracking at the point where the spike and plastic meet due to the force required to bury the spike and the weak plastic neck. An overwhelming positive attribute - It is incredibly nice to be able to water in peace and quiet. I will reluctantly keep buying them for that reason alone.

Works best with high water pressure. Linking more than two sprinklers greatly reduces the coverage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Sprinkler available anywhere !, May 16, 2002

This review is from: Gardena Turbo Drive Sprinkler on a Spike 36849-6 (Lawn & Patio)
I have used this sprinkler for several years and it was my absolute favorite - it is quiet and doesn't have that annoying sound that most sprinklers have. And it doesn't pool water at its base either.
My dogs ate my old one and I am thrilled to find that I can replace it at Amazon ! Good price also ! Less than I originally paid !

It's a very good sprinkler with two area working mechanism. You can regulate it to work from 25 degree until full circle. Very robust and quiet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sprinkler good by design but...., June 9, 2009

This review is from: Gardena Turbo Drive Sprinkler on a Spike 36849-6 (Lawn & Patio)
I have testet now a couple of sprinklers and as a result: Gardena is the optimum. Quiet, with a good spray pattern, easy to adjust in side and range but the spike needs a broader blade or a additional stabilizing side spike so that the sprinkler cannot be twisted out of main direction by the force of the hose. Further more I would like to have a valve on the sprinkler in order to reduce the pressure for the long range. In long range the turn speed is much to high to achieve a good watering pattern like it has in short range.
Finally, this sprinkler is a good supplement to a oszillating square sprinkler to cover the whole lawn.
Amendment: After using three of those sprinklers for the whole season 2009 I have to realize that the quality of manufacturing is not so good as I thought: Like I said before the blade of the metall spike is to small to keep the sprinkler in his initially placed position. As soon as the attached hose is unintentionally pulled, the sprinkler follows and might be pointed off the target area. Another flaw that I discovered by placing the sprinklers in a new position is that ground spike is coming out of the mounting slots of all when I pulled them out of the ground. The spikes are not glued or melted into the base of the sprinkler. I had to clean them and fill the slots with Gorilla glue in order to use them again. In the meantime the manufacturer has discontued the production and offers a new design hopefully more successfull in the real world based on our reviews.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sprinkler Critique, May 19, 2003

I need to divide this review into two parts-one for delivery and delivery condition. One for actual performance of sprinkler.

First, I ordered two sprinklers at the same time and received two separate shipments a couple of days apart. The second shipment contained a deeffective sprinkler: one of the plastic adjusting rings was cracked. I'm told a replacement is on back-order.

As for the performance of the unit, its actually quite good. It seems to provide a more even coverage pattern than the typical impact sprinkler and its operation is A LOT smoother- no THWACK THWACK THWACK noise-just a continous kind of whirring noise.

I'll reserve judgement till I get both units in the ground and operating. But so far, this unit is slightly superior to the impact model.

I love this sprinkler, but it broke less than a year after buying it. Not sure if I want to purchase another.
